Cycle racks on back of motorhome

I'm feeling impoverished now. Ours are only 8.7AH.

CY, very few folk are going to ride all day untill the battery runs out (phew) but a larger battery means fewer recharges which is great if on Aires for a few days, Although my inverter can manage the task of required.

Hi BB, I have been preoccupied today with packing the van, visiting the weighbridge and last minute visit to the dentist for the wife.     We have more time tomorrow to finish off and hope to head for Poole late afternoon.

I will certainly have to try that CV147 and take my camera if the views are that good.      I dont think my bike will have a problem getting up there but I might!    Will let you know.    My Panasonic battery is 36V, 18Ah and energy output is 648 Wh.    Just numbers to me now...  They are now 3 years old but nowhere near the mileage you have covered.  I take it that 6666 was your bike and not MH mileage?

We can cover in excess of 70 miles per day.   The best we have done was in Holland, but we cycle up and down the Vere Verdi regularly and find that very satisfying.    This trip I intend to do some solo cycling and try and break some records.    A Belgie friend of ours who spends around 6/7 months a year in one of Bonterra's bungalows rides between 80 and 130 km per day, 5/6 days a week on an expensive road bike.  He is my age but no battery on his bike!

yes, the numbers (of the Beast) were on my bike display...I generally have it set to KM as we spend plenty of time away and went through 10,000 km at the end of our Autumn tour..as we are back for a bit, i changed it to miles and it just happened to click over to that member as I came back up from the supermarket....

i would say, 70 miles is about tops (in low power) for this battery now, but plenty for pretty well all situations...

IMHO, the bosch system only has one drawback and that is, due to the way the motor is designed to keep it small, there are a lot of internal gears....this makes the bike hard to ride either without battery power or beyond the battery assistance speed of 25km/hr

OTOH, OH,s Panasonic has a much simpler sprocket/chain driven motor which can easily be cycled without power or upto faster speeds.

when I change, I'll probably look at the Kalkhoff ones as they have a similar drive process.

id love to have a lightweight tourer, too, but this seems extravagant, although my pal (ex semi-pro and bike shop owner) has at least 8 bikes 'in his garage' at home....

situation might be changing here a bit to allow us to get away a bit later in the spring, we will see....

We have just purchased a pioneer frobisher with rear window.  We would like to purchase a bike rack and have it fitted.  Our bikes are light about 10 - 15 kg, we would value any advice or recommendation as we are newbies to the motorhoming world, thanks

First of all you need to establish if your rear wall has the necessary strengthening to take a bike rack and, if so,  just what max load you can carry. 

You also need to pay attention to your payload, all up weight and rear axle load. Your handbook should help. 

Pioneers were essentially Autocruise models from the pre-Swift days and had a good reputation. You may need to do some internet searching.

I am looking for a tow ball mounted 2 bicycle carrier up to 60Kg total

carrying weight that would suit my old Devon Auto  Sleeper.  Would be very grateful for any recommendations.

Have a look at the Thule Express 970. I've used mine on the back of the car and currently also use it on the caravan, where I've mounted a tow ball on the jockey wheel mounting points.

Other more expensive versions are available, but it does an excellent job at a very fair price and takes up little space when folded for storage..
