Hello everyone,

Caravan newbies here- just bought a swift sprite major 6 . How do we go about getting a number plate for the caravan? Literally have no idea how to go about this or the cost etc.

Any help/guidance would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

You buy a rear number plate for your car which entails proving ownership of the car, your ID and address. See the DVLA website. Then you fix the plate to the caravan.

You can go to Halfords (£15.99) or the like with the V5 and driving licence. Or a cheaper option is Amazon (£6.82). I used Amazon and happy with product. Just make sure that they are road legal (including BS Standards and Post Code) and not show plates.

Halfords or a car accessories shop should be able to make one , but you need the v5 log book and some prove of address

Many years ago I got a new Company car and forgot to change the caravan plate. Travelled over Europe for over two weeks and didn't realise until we got home!

Go to any Motor Factors with your driving licence and car logbook (V5) and they will make one for you. Simple.

If they don't ask for any documents the chances are the plates are not legal. All motor factors and producers of number plates have to keep records for the DVLA of all plates they make.

Have a look at the Fancy Plates website and choose your own design.  You can purchase single rear plate
