david. we used to have a 22" Tesco with dvd (in fact, we had two of them....we got a second one for the bedroom) and they were great. but mains only.....we really needed a 12v set, but most of the high street stores dont do them these days.
our new van came with a 19" 12v set built in (in a hidden slot...) and we had a second 12v 16" tv (Cello Traveller) fitted in the bedroom.
if the OP is considering camping 'off grid' (some CLs, temp hol sites, aires in france etc, etc.....) then it might be worth seeking out a 12v set.....

We decided on the Avtex 21.5 inch Combi which is 12/230v Apart from an excellent picture it has the advantage, to us, of having a built in satelite reciever which works seamlessly with our automatic dish. If you don't need the 12v or the combi/satellite tuner aspect I would be inclined to look for something like this We had a slightly smaller Samsung in a previous caravan and are still using it at home.

For info....
Sky subscribers, who wish to take their home package with them, will need to either take their home box or pair their home card with a second (permanent) nox in their van.
tv with built in sat tuners are for receiving the 'freesat' range of channels....the 'premium' channels (sports, movies etc) require a sky box (and appropriate viewing card) to receive them.

If you are like us. ie wife insists we go to a site where there is a power station on site
Then a good quality set from the likes of Curry's rtc with freesat and free view .will more then suffice
Or buy a 12 v to 250 Volt, 250w inverter from say Maplins
Once you have an inverter you don't have to limit yourself to a small range of expensive small televisions. with a mediocre picture If you have spare TV you could even use that
We have a 27 inch Full HD TV, easily fits inside our Caravan
