I don't think the Club makes the best use of the magazine, it is too focused on pushing Club sites. The content needs to be varied far more.

I have just finished reading the April issue of the C&CC magazine and as a general rule it has far more of interest in it than that of the CAMC magazines. For instance this month there are articles on electric bikes, the latest tyre legislation, payloads, batteries, plus the latest news and reviews etc. Well over an hour of interesting reading. I think the April addition of the CAMC's mag only took perhaps 5 to 10  mins of my time from front to back.

Well of course the club magazine pushes the club's site. It is the magazine of the CAMC It would be strange if it didn't? I assume that is what people join the club for? To use their sites?

The club does however report on tyres, batteries, latest news and reviews, amid other associated caravan and motorhome topics. And yes I remember articles on LV stuff too. I recall posting why a review of thermal flashes and water bottles were being reviewed.

But as said if one is joining the club just for the magazine, or judging the club by finding fault with the state of the magazine then I find that strange. The club is there for its sites not the magazine, the magazine is not the most important thing in the club. In my view it is probably one of the least and if it went it wouldn't bother me at all.

And why complain about the time it takes to read? Do you have to?

Tinwheeler,

As I wished to have the CCC supplement I opted in so, as I indicated, I receive a copy each month with my magazine. It was very easy to do so.

I too like the C&CC magazine best and have also opted for the paper supplement covering temporary holiday sites etc.

I also agree that details of CMC rallies are not that easy to find, but you may find the following link helpful

CMC Centre Events & Rally Search

Hope this helps.  Jim

Thanks for the link Jim. I appreciate that.

It requires a lot of exploration and moving to various pages or via links to find details such as location and price.

For me the CCC "Out and About" supplement is much more user friendly as it is set out in regions where the events are to take place and contains details of  dates, location, directions and  fees  along with names and phone numbers of the stewards. In short, the whole of the UK is covered with all information clearly provided.

Once again, thank you for the link.

Yep, as I said it is no longer automatically included.

Never mind rallies etc. I'm still waiting for a promised price list for club sites and it's April in a few days time.

Perhaps someone could report this post to chivvy them up at Grinstead Towers.

Done. This may appear twice, as it doesn't appear to have worked first time 🤐

Edit, it takes an age to appear on the thread and the latest activity page! Someone please pop another hamster or 3 in the wheel..........

The article I read (I saw no advertisement for Sri Lanka) features a new, escorted motorhome tour of Sri Lanka which is arranged by the Club's travel section.

The C&CC also offered this tour (or similar) until it made its entire Worldwide Motorhoming Holiday staff redundant. We have hired motorhomes in the USA (twice), Canada and New Zealand so it is of interest to me.

I have toured Sri Lanka independently - using trains and cars with drivers - but am puzzled by the idea of touring that island by motor home. It really isn’t obvious motorhome territory - even with the essential local driver, and there are no campsites

The climate is hot and wet tropical, and the south west corner catches the bulk of the rain.  Indoor, air conditioned accommodation in that climate, with netted protection against insects, will be much more comfortable than living in a motor home.

For those travelling independently there are guides and escorts who are easy to find - although some of them difficult to shake off - and for those preferring an escorted tour there are reputable travel companies offering prices well below £4700 per person quoted for this particular tour.

It’s well worth going - but not in a motorhome, and not at that price.

There are many reasons for belonging to the CCM club, I agree sites, foreign tours are a part. I would like the magazine to be the “Trustpilot” for caravanning - honest opinions voiced on all things caravanning (including positive and negative comments on caravans, motorhome, cars and dealers).
will it ever happen - I doubt it.
