New caravaners

So, last year we went Glamping to the South of France to a 5 * Yelloh Village campsite near St Tropez, we met some wonderful people and enjoyed our holiday so much when we got back i picked up a budget 2005 Bursnter and booked to the same site in France again....... Can't wait to go back. Couple of weeks ago we took our first and only ever trip to a Haven site in Cleethorpe with our Flipper..... We loved it so much that as soon as i got back i had my eye on a 2012 Adria Altea and so i took the plunge and we went off to Haven's Thorpe Park, what a great time we had.

Now that we are experienced :) caravaners, i am looking for something similar a little nearer to home (Milton Keynes)

What we loved about the haven sites was the entertainment, but also i loved the atmosphere by the campsite, so i was wondering if you had any suggestions as to where we should go next for the may bank holidays.

the main reason behind our caravan trips is my 8 year old daughter (Well and me) We love to chat and join in especially my daughter, the great outdoors doesnt phase us, but we are still complete novices and whilst we have hot water and shower now, number 2 is a complete no no and to be honest if we have good shower and toilet facilities nearby why would we want to do that in the caravan....

Hello and welcome. Glad you've decided you like it.

Firstly no 2 was a no no for us for years. But we now do and it ain't that bad πŸ˜‰. We use gel bio pods, as in for clothes washing, in the cassette, cleaner cheaper and better as far as we're concerned. There was a long thread going before this website was updated and it was lost! But check out biopods Spain probably under making caravanning cheaper. Will see if I can find it and add it but I'm on my phone and not so easy πŸ˜‰. The old thread was very lengthy, no idea toilet facilities could generate so much chat πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚  so I'd say read the thread - give it a go.

Sorry can't help with sites with entertainment as it's not something we use,  just us 2 now kids have flown grandchildren live in NZ.

There's also another thread about surviving without EHU again original lost but new one has lots of info and plenty to read and digest. I bring this to your attention because rallies are great, from what I understand, if you have kids and enjoy socialising.

I hope you have lots more fun to come ☺

Fully  agree  with  Bakers2  And  here  are  the  threads  mentioned  :--

Look  under  "Tips for making caravanning  &  touring  cheaper"  and

you  should  find  "How  to  Survive A Non 240v EHU Site"  and  also

"Bio tabs ( pods )  Spain"

As  for  use  of  toilets,  some  of  use  have  pastimes  that  involve  being  away  from  'Full  Facility  Sites'  so  we  have  ??evolved undecided??    rather  differently  to  some  of  our  friends on  'ere  !!

B2's  final  line  is  important  ::--  Have  lots  of  fun,  its  a  holiday  industry  cool

Just to prepare you in case you get food poisoning as I did after a bad French Sunday lunch surprisedsurprised.... If you line the bowl with three x double sheets of loo paper in a three pronged cross there really is not a problem!  I can see why people think it's a problem if they don't do that.

I am out of the loop with the sort of sites you enjoy but you might find something on ukcampsites.co.uk..  Someone else will know I expect.

My children loved camping at that age Enjoy!

We stayed at the Haven Wild Duck site near Great Yarmouth a few years ago.  It has a pool, restaurant, evening entertainment and very geared up for children.  It may suit your requirements.  They did a discount for CMC members, but not sure if this is still the case.  We chose that site because we took my mother in law with us.  I had to share our 2 berth caravan with her, whilst OH slept in the awning (not all sites will allow sleeping in the awning). The pitch was allocated to us, next to some large trees, but not much grass to speak of.  The showers were the push button variety and the facilities were clean enough, but there weren't any wash basin cubicles.  If washing in the caravan is not your thing, it was showers or nothing.

Hi and Welcome to the Club.

Why not give our Seacroft site a go. It has a leisure complex which includes a bar, restaurant, games room and outdoor heated swimming pool. During peak season, visitors can enjoy a lively programme of varied entertainment and special events.

Wherever you go, have fun!

Tracy

It may be a bit further than you wanted to travel, but Plassey Holiday Park is very highly rated laughing

Enjoy your holidays laughing

thank you all for your information, some good advice.... distance is not really an issue if it is worth it... for the time being i have booked Haven's Golden Sands......

planning a longer trip for the half term holiday and i am split between the Haven's Hafan y Mor of the vauxhall holiday park, they both look awesome.... is it worth the further trip or is Vauxhall really good ?

Don't really follow what you mean Pippah, (no further explanation please) but practicing origami at time like that is all well and good if you have enough time !! sealed

Thought you should know bit you didnt want pippah to replyπŸ˜‰

Known as the lotus flower. Take length of toilet paper, personally I use 3 or 4 and double it, lay in over the Base of the toilet, take another length do the same but place it in the opposite direction to the first. Keep the flap closed.  Use the facility for no 2 sort yourself out. Open flap and flush. All into the cassette and if you've done the lotus flower properly it folds in on itself as it goes down leaving a clean bowl. πŸ˜‰ simples!

Oh that's why it's called the Lotus!  I couldn't remember but Spriddler didn't want the information! But at those times I was ready in advance!  Paper already on the shelf!  I was a bit surprised to be poisoned in France on Easter Day!
