New caravaners

So, last year we went Glamping to the South of France to a 5 * Yelloh Village campsite near St Tropez, we met some wonderful people and enjoyed our holiday so much when we got back i picked up a budget 2005 Bursnter and booked to the same site in France again....... Can't wait to go back. Couple of weeks ago we took our first and only ever trip to a Haven site in Cleethorpe with our Flipper..... We loved it so much that as soon as i got back i had my eye on a 2012 Adria Altea and so i took the plunge and we went off to Haven's Thorpe Park, what a great time we had.

Now that we are experienced :) caravaners, i am looking for something similar a little nearer to home (Milton Keynes)

What we loved about the haven sites was the entertainment, but also i loved the atmosphere by the campsite, so i was wondering if you had any suggestions as to where we should go next for the may bank holidays.

the main reason behind our caravan trips is my 8 year old daughter (Well and me) We love to chat and join in especially my daughter, the great outdoors doesnt phase us, but we are still complete novices and whilst we have hot water and shower now, number 2 is a complete no no and to be honest if we have good shower and toilet facilities nearby why would we want to do that in the caravan....

Oh that's why it's called the Lotus!  I couldn't remember but Spriddler didn't want the information! But at those times I was ready in advance!  Paper already on the shelf!  I was a bit surprised to be poisoned in France on Easter Day!

Pippah hadn't realised it was a recent poisoning 😲.  I trust you're feeling better now. Are you still in France?  How's your brother.

Sorry for taking this off topic.

Hi nwesterby.   Welcome to Club Together and the world of caravanning.  There are so many different types of sites available, all with their own character and feel.  Like Tracy, I would suggest take a look at Seacroft.  It has a Clubroom and swimming pool.

Do keep us up to date in how you are doing.

thank you all for your information, some good advice.... distance is not really an issue if it is worth it... for the time being i have booked Haven's Golden Sands......

planning a longer trip for the half term holiday and i am split between the Haven's Hafan y Mor of the vauxhall holiday park, they both look awesome.... is it worth the further trip or is Vauxhall really good ?

Hafan y Mor is a lovely site, one of the best Havens, with great location (right on the beach and coastpath) and facilities, the touring area is fairly new, clean and the pitches are level HS.

We sometimes use Haven, but we would be going out of season when sites are quieter and the pitches are as cheap as chips.

our main proviso is that we noticed how busy the sites got in season and the increase in noise, but we still use them off peak if convenient.

however, Hafan y Mor can stand on its own feet as a touring location. enjoy.

Hello Bakers2 and all,

Following on from bangirl's comment regarding a discount at Haven sites for our Members, unfortunately our long-running partnership came to an end in November last year.

This was a decision that was not taken lightly and it was agreed, by mutual consent, that the contract would not be renewed for 2017.

Initially Haven was seen as offering our members a product that The Club did not provide, therefore complementing our offering.

It was becoming clear however, that during the course of our partnership, Haven’s own objectives have changed, with more of their sites offering touring pitches.

The Club’s own strategy has also changed during this time, thus creating more potential cross-over into Haven’s business area. Relationships between The Club and Haven do remain positive.

Hi and Welcome to the Club.

Why not give our Seacroft site a go. It has a leisure complex which includes a bar, restaurant, games room and outdoor heated swimming pool. During peak season, visitors can enjoy a lively programme of varied entertainment and special events.

Wherever you go, have fun!

Tracy

slowly we will get to try out a few of the caravan club sites.

At the moment we have discovered Haven and have been to Blue Dolphin, Thorpe Park and Golden Sands. we are off back to Blue Dolphin which will be one of our main places as my parents live in Whitby so we get to kill two birds with one stone..

thanks everyone

We stayed at the Haven Wild Duck site near Great Yarmouth a few years ago.  It has a pool, restaurant, evening entertainment and very geared up for children.  It may suit your requirements.  They did a discount for CMC members, but not sure if this is still the case.  We chose that site because we took my mother in law with us.  I had to share our 2 berth caravan with her, whilst OH slept in the awning (not all sites will allow sleeping in the awning). The pitch was allocated to us, next to some large trees, but not much grass to speak of.  The showers were the push button variety and the facilities were clean enough, but there weren't any wash basin cubicles.  If washing in the caravan is not your thing, it was showers or nothing.

This site is on my radar. We are in Milton Keynes so most of the Haven resorts are 100 miles plus, and i guess only about 2 to 3 hour drives...

We nearly booked Vauxhall but they do not allow dogs so that put the breaks on that group...

Still interested in knowing of other great areas
