Well hello everyone. We have been members for 7 years now and we our cancelling our membership.  The reason being that people book up several sites at once and just cancel what they dont want at the last minute. They do this because they dont have to pay a deposit. We did get into one once which was because of a last minute cancelation. When we got there people were suprised we got in and we was even told that you have to book in Jan on several sites and just cancel what you dont want. This is not the way to run things. If a deposit was asked people wouldnt do this. We have mentioned this before but nothing has changed.  Im not paying a membership when I cant book anything .

Not at all, JV. Like everywhere else there are peaks at rush hour but I can assure you that getting around here is a doddle compared to your area. Don’t believe all that your mates tell you. After all, they're mostly only here at busy times.

However, people are often surprised to find this isn’t the quiet backwater they expected.

Happy to enlighten you. laughing

I did 24 hours in Penzance Cornwall a few years ago! Admittedly I did go on the train overnight, and then came back towing our old van with OH. Still enjoyed it though. We have done weekends in Cornwall though from home to Fowey, some 350 plus miles in the past. Length of Yorkshire end to end is not far off 100 miles, so we regularly do this as we live in the very South, but love Northumberland/Durham area.

We got to know the areas of Cornwall we visited extremely well, that's Penwith, Restormal districts. We also learned not to be down there in August! A good map and an intimate knowledge of local shortcuts is of great value!laughing But not with a huge caravan on the backwink

Hey, I have over 60 pitches empty tonight! Looking at the booking history for my site, there has been a similar "trend"  for the last 12 years. My 2 neighbouring sites are similar, it's a very different story come Whitsun when we are completely full and stay that way until mid September.

This is a myth and the myth is raising its head once againfrown! If you try to book two sites for the same days the system will flag up that you are double booking and won't let you do this! Why does this myth still prevai, is it that some just wish it can be done because it suits their arguement?

The  ability to pack up and take a touring trip seems to over unless you actively book up when booking dates start at the beginning of the year.

many of our mid week to mid week breaks have been marred by a site being full on a Saturday night but having spaces available on the Friday or Sunday night.

seems the club is happier to take £30 for a night and loose £200 for long booking.

tried asking if we could take any cancelled booking, but neither the wardens (why would they, as their computer says no) nor the club are able to manage a reservation system.  I am no spending  my day sitting punching buttons in the hope I can pick up a cancelled booking on a site I am already pitched on.
