Well hello everyone. We have been members for 7 years now and we our cancelling our membership.  The reason being that people book up several sites at once and just cancel what they dont want at the last minute. They do this because they dont have to pay a deposit. We did get into one once which was because of a last minute cancelation. When we got there people were suprised we got in and we was even told that you have to book in Jan on several sites and just cancel what you dont want. This is not the way to run things. If a deposit was asked people wouldnt do this. We have mentioned this before but nothing has changed.  Im not paying a membership when I cant book anything .

It is when the Scots come south in the main holidays that the West Country sites start to fill up

I didn’t realise that you’re an expert ln Westcountry Sites, JV. I can’t say I’ve noticed many Scots in these parts. Most of our emmets seem to come from the Home Counties or the Midlands.

I point out that on a peak bank holiday May weekend there are with bright sunshine there are more than 800 vacant pitches on Club sites in Devon and Cornwall right now, but you puzzle me by claiming we have to wait for Scots school holidays before visitors will.arrive ? The visitors are here in Devon and Cornwall now. The caravanners and motorhomers are here now. They just aren't using the Club sites.

It will almost certainly be different for the next BH which has a weeks school holiday attached. Not many folk are going to travel 300 miles, from this part of the world for a long weekend. Even from say the Bristol area it is a fair distance, given they can just nip into the Cotswolds.

As long as they booked well in advance of course. 😀

Cornwall is just not a let's just nip away (for three days) destination.

Scotland was mentioned as being far away and popular. Certainly is with me in May and I guess a fair few others, as the weather is often reasonable and there are none of those person eating midges.😂

Or any of the independent sites on which, according to your post, there must be "a thousand or two more" vacant pitches! wink

JV, how can you possibly know what the site occupancy situation is throughout Devon and Cornwall?yell  I don’t claim to know that and I live here.

Doesn’t that depend where you’re starting from?
