'Your Stories' needs editorial control

The 'Your Stories' section attracts some interesting, informative and amuusing tales: it also attracts misplaced reviews and complaints. Unfortunately, it's also vulnerable to unedited 'copy and paste' stories from contributors own sites. Again in a new story, a contributor uses the word s**t and its derivatives - it's a common feature of his past stories - and no one seems to notice or complain. Again, he has used a vile expression which we have to assume he thinks is smart or funny. A moderator expunged it from a previous 'story'

A case could be made for contributions to be submitted for publication before posting - that would be a bit tedious, and who would do it?

Have a look for the offending phrase. is it suitable for use in this forum?

I've complained to the Community Manager, but I guess he's busy right now plugging holes and mending fuses!

Must admit that I never read the Stories......maybe I ought to start? Might be a bit less combative than the Forum? Undecided

The stories are often noy on the radar for many folk I auspect Ian ..... myself included. As they don't appear in the discussion listings they certainly get missed by me

I have sometimes taken a slightly different ay with stories.  To me, a very important aspect of any 'story' is photographs.  I tend to put a summary in the story box and then add photos to the comment boxes.  This means I can add them when I have time.  Quite a few folk seem to appreciate the way I did it for our 2014 holiday in France (HERE) so I have started with the same aim for our 2016 Holiday HERE.  The trouble is that it can get very long, but my own preference is for one long story rather than breaking it up into smaller chunks.

Another crop of misplaced reviews and complaints this week. Never thought I'd ever say this, but at least Scarletsfan does post 'Stories' , love them or loathe them Innocent

"if you just want to ask a question or share a brief account please post in discussions"

This is the advice given now on the stories introduction area. Maybe it needs to be in bold at the beginning and be separated from the other details?

Worth a try but not sure it will help. It is in bold on the ask the expert thread. Please read before you post. Yet still folk are posting general queries in this section.

I'm moving posts out of Ask the Expert Section daily.  I've posted in the Stories Section highlighting the advice given but I doubt it'll make much difference.  Pity we can't edit the information given by CC.

I have recently discussed this with Rochelle and apparently the Story Section runs on a slightly different platform to the forum so there is no ability to move what should be in the discussion area from stories. Perhaps what we need to be asking is why people (always new to CT) seem to land at the Story Section rather than the Discussion area? People clearly don't read the instructions and as Steve says that is even when these are more than clear they ignore them. It might be brutal but perhaps non-stories should just be Deleted User, the problem there is that people will have different views on what is a story. It does seem to me that a lot of review style stories are posted, especially for non Club sites. I know when I suggested in the forum that we should have a non club site review area it got a very luke warm response but it might be one answer?

It possibly got missed in the sea of various sections & stickies within them ..... some stickies take up half of the page.

I suggested this early on too - and several times since.
