"Small deposits"

What's everyones opinion on paying a small deposit, when booking a site. I personally can't see a problem if you're actually intending to go once you've booked.

I am so frustrated with the situation where popular sites are unavailable, booked up by the "well we might want to go, if not, we'll just 72 hr cancel or not turn up and take a yellow card.

Walked around both Knaresborough and York sites recently, having had to go elsewhere to see numerous empty pitches.

Yes I was indeed. Taken for granted Club would refund if Site closed or unavailable, that’s happening now. But circumstances deemed “exceptional” by one customer, might just be “so what” to another customer.

Take for example recent fuel shortage. Folks cancelling pitches at Sites daily. Now we had a CL and a cottage booked, never gave a thought to cancelling either. Good call as it turned out, we got there and enjoyed both.

Its just been confirmed via AGM that deposits are coming, along with being able to book a pitch type. Just those basic details, no terms and conditions yet, so there goes the Club’s unique selling point, next year.

Oh, well🤷🏻‍♂️. The club I joined took deposits so it’s just a u-turn and return to that. No big deal.

I guess that's booking by surface type and not before time either. It’s a move into the 21st century at last.

Thanks for the heads up.👍🏻

There’s obviously a recruitment issue, otherwise the Club wouldn’t be closing Sites at short notice, and advertising for Site Staff, including anyone with relevant experience in the general holiday sector.

Record number of Members, but closing sites early🤔 I spy a problem. 🤷‍♀️

£12 in 1999 would be £21.27 in 2020 (Bank of England calculator).

yes puts it into perspective indeed (and if you had a service pitch (there was only one site then? it would add and extra £2.40 then)

Nowadays the highest price would be about £42 as posted recently.
