Sorry if this has been asked before and I've not seen it.

Is there a reason why unlike most other forums there appears to be no record of how many posts a user has made?

What does it matter how many posts we each make? Hundreds or thousands of posts made playing games in the trivia section are no indication of a poster's knowledgeable input.

Rocky made a very relevant point in that stars were used as a weapon by some to have a go at others and a post count could, and would, be used in exactly the same way.

I think there is a difference between Club Together and other forums. Many forums appreciate long serving members whose post count is usually highlighted in some way. As I mentioned earlier, posts in what we call the Social Room are not counted which suggests someone with a lot of posts  is actually contributing to the well being of the forum. That may be knowledge wise or just giving a welcome to new members but at least it is showing a sort of commitment. Whether, at the end of the day, it makes much difference is of course questionable  however many traditional forums are suffering because of Social Media  and I think most would welcome any input!

I'm sure they do welcome input, David, and what other forums do is up to them but I don't want to see yet another divisive measure introduced to CT.

At least you can look in your profile (or others) and see all individual actions including reviews, discussions, stories etc. That's enough for me. smile

on most 'package' forums, when a post is liked, it lists who liked it, saving the hundreds of pointless '+1' posts.....

the poster can see straight away who thought '+1' without having the thread lengthed unnecessarity.....and with only 10 posts a page, this means even more (snail like) paging around a thread.....smile

Don't get this at all  BB, you can only add a '+1' if you press the quote button (like I have done now) so the OP can straight way who has +1, just like you can see I've responded to you.

I'll show you:

-1

see you knew straight away that came from mesmile

I don't think +1 are pointless, it's a quick succinct  (def: concise, short, brief, compact, condensed, crisp) way of agreeing with a post. If you are worried about thread being lengthen unnecessarily then what is shorter a +1 or a statement with a few lines?

And if you look on latest activity you can see it was me,  Brue,  who "liked" Corner's post....easy! laughing
