CT usage statistics

I’ve been looking at the use of the forum over the first week of this year and compared it with the same week (1-7 Jan) last year.

It had become apparent that the amount of activity had declined and I wondered by how much.

In the first week of 2015, 794 different usernames were observed on CT. (There were a lot of kitchen spammers at the time, so they were removed from the count).

This year, there were 691 different usernames observed over the same period.

The number actually posting to the forum was 388, dropping to 356 this year, a fall of around 10%.

An average of 260 different users were seen on CT each day in 2015 whereas only 235 different users a day are seen just now.

TDA, very true, but that forum seems to pick and choose their members . i was refused entry ,but hey ho there is life other than forumsHappy

I was invited to join and refused. Its a strange worldLaughing

Fascinating. Do tell more as you've made this claim elsewhere as well.

It's not invitation only so this does sound very odd

A very interesting comment I agree as I wasn't aware of any 'invitation only' membership.

I'm sure the one being referred to in this thread doesn't do "invitations", other than possibly a friend suggesting you join.

Friend, or agent provocateur? Wink

Brue, there is disagreeing & there is combative. Disagreements are bread & butter to healthy debate/discussion, being stalked & attacked is not by any stretch of the imagination acceptable. I have seen it happen on CT to 4posters that I can think of immediately. Some folk think being disagreed with is a personal slight-it really isn't at all.

Rocky...the answer to a perceived problem is to discuss it with the forum manager via e mail or the report function.

Jill,

It seems likely that he's confused a referral link with an invitation. No invitations to join have ever been issued

It could always be a different forum.

Makes a good story I suppose Wink

Hi Rogher

I actually found your statistics encouraging!

There's not really that much of a drop in usage, and I don't think your stats can be used to support a claim that the CT Forum has "one foot in the grave" as mentioned earlier - far from it.

And as has been mentioned elsewhere in this discussion, a number of factors have contributed to this slight reduction in activity.

I also think Ro and the CT Staff should be commended for successfully tackling the "heated arguments" that used to generate so much kerfuffle - and posts!!

Cheers

Bugs

Indeed, the average number of posts a day to a thread has risen to compensate for the lower variety of threads being commented on. And the average number of posts per user has risen from 9.5/day to 9.9/day, so it’s not a case of doom & gloom. Maybe the new software will generate more interest…

I agree with you completely. We know the pressure Rowena is under(workload) as She apologises constantly for the lack of speed with Her replies. Some have mentioned weeks awaiting replies. It will then be a case of waiting for Rowena's workload pressures to allow to reduce to a level of getting back to the 'mailer' all the time not having access to CT due to 'perceived' problems with poster/s. My apologies to rogher for going off topic. I enjoy the figures rogher produces, they are quite enlighteningHappy

As I posted some time ago, that issue could be addressed by points only being awarded to "likees" rather than "likers"
