Are we doomed?

Does anyone else fear for the future of this forum? Do you feel we are being treated like second class citizens?

A couple of posters have mentioned the staff input on the FB page recently and, yes, there they are. The staff members who were introduced here are actually posting on FB but, largely, ignoring the forum. (A word in praise of CL Maddie wouldn’t go amiss here - she’s head and shoulders above the rest.)

As for staff members being moderators here, what a joke! Even a visit from the CM is a rarity these days.

Then we have information about a review of the booking system being given in an interview to a commercial magazine. Hello there! What about us? We are the members who pay our membership and site fees which ultimately pay staff wages yet we are ignored on this and most other issues. It’s simply not good enough, CAMC.

Given the lack of staff input from all levels to this forum, it’s no wonder that the same old moans go around and around debating the same old topics. A bit of informed input from those who have the knowledge and ability to do so could turn this forum around from the appalling shop window of the club it is now into a pleasant, entertaining, informative place to attract new and present members.

I’ve not opened the can of worms that is the shocking software performance of this forum as that is a whole separate issue but am concentrating here on the apparent shabby treatment of users of this forum which borders on an insult when you see what happens elsewhere as I’ve outlined above. It seems to suit CAMC to mostly ignore this forum's existence.

I only dip in now and again to pass a few mins whilst having a coffee so I wouldn't miss CT if it ended. It's not sufficiently important to me to care one way or the other just so long as the CL network continues.

And to be honest I really don't want to be 'kept informed' or 'consulted': On the basis of the management's past reactions I doubt it would change anything if I was. The CAMC is just one of my several commercial 'suppliers' and if the product didn't suit I'd go somewhere else. Not apathy but pragmatism; life's to short to peel a mushroom.

Sorry but I don't see the problems about access and speed of this website and forum. For me it works fine. I suspect that much of the problem lies with the either the hardware used to access the site or the Internet connection being used. Certainly things slow down when I use a weak connection, but when I am at home using a fast fibre optic internet connect I have no problem with speed. I suspect that those who experience problems can either blame their hardware or their internet provider (yes it is slow on sites). I am no expert but cannot myself see that it is a CAMC problem if your internet access is slow. I'm now off to find my tin hat!

That’s not the issue here, Nev, but other threads deal that aspect. By way of explanation I’ll copy the last para of my OP.

FYI. . . .I use iPad Pro(2017), infinity B/band-75mb’s down & 25mb’s up,  19 ping. This sites connection is the slowest I use. PS-I don’t have a problem with it, a few seconds extra from my life isn’t a drama๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜Š

Have we been told that this website (C&MC) will be closed this weekend?

I haven't seen the announcement but read this on another forum:

Scheduled website maintenance - 2 to 3 February

We would like to make you aware that the Club’s website will be temporarily unavailable for transactions between 9pm on Friday 2 February until the evening on Saturday 3 February 2018 whilst we carry out essential maintenance. You will still be able to browse the website. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Valda, the information has been coming up on the club website for a couple of days. Can't find the link as I've gone past the bit where it can be read.

I have never bothered logging out - I just leave the website to 'time out' and eventually it does. When I access the forum again I have to login - and I would have thought that is when the message should appear - but it doesn't.

I've just come back, logged in and the message is on the front page. So either way it's at the front or the end.
