Hi everyone,

Following the very popular Coronavirus Concerns discussion, I have created this discussion to continue conversation around the Coronavirus where you can discuss with each other and share updates and concerns.

However, we do request that conversations and comments about politics are not posted as this inadvertently leads to disagreements and arguments as we have seen in previous discussions where we have needed to moderate posts. Please can you keep your conversation free from politics friendly and in the spirit of the community. A reminder of the Guidelines below:

I don’t have a problem wearing a mask if asked , but I read the other day that masks made from cotton were only 50% effective against spreading germs ,but if you used a layer of silk with the cotton it then became 90% effective, and it has to fit properly or germs can sneak out the sides , I think soon we may have to wear them outdoors all the time

I had an emergency operation and two follow up visits at the Liverpool Eye Hospital at the height of the pandemic. Whilst all those in the operating theatre wore the full PPE that was not the case in the waiting areas and especially the corridors. Usage in those areas by patients and NHS staff was probably around 50%.

That was then. Now it’s mandatory for staff, visitors and outpatients to wear them.

But it does seem strange that now the worst appears to be over, that the rules are more stringent

That statement could open up a whole can of worms, but I shall refrain and be a good little (None) Member😂

My wife just read on the internet that the Caravan & Motor Club site might not open on the 4th July and that the facilities, showers and toilet block will not be open.  Any news on this from a mod.

Hi all

just to start off. If the councils are not opening their public toilets because they are worried about the safety of the cleaning staff, why is it ok for the clubs toilet & shower facilities to be open?

Are they not like public toilets?

Are not the staff at the same risk as the other cleaners?

Cheers all👍

Hi, An emotive subject perhaps. We were due to travel to France 260620 in our caravan, along with relatives in their new Motor home.

Obviously this has been cancelled due to travel restrictions.

We had booked a non refundable return journey with Eurotunnel, but do not wish to go between whenever we can and next March when we paid for the tickets.

I have been battling with Eurotunnel for a refund of £412 for us and £204 pounds for our relatives, quoting advise from experts such as Martin Lewis, but they would not budge.

But then I found EU reg 32020H0648, which I quoted and guess what, instant refund in full for both parties.

We wear masks whenever we leave the house. Too many people not respecting 2 metres distance [walking whilst staring at phone, oblivious to surroundings], plus danger from joggers & cyclists. Too late after unexpected contact!

Wearing the mask minimises infection risk for other party, and if everyone uses a mask, the transmission rate should reduce. I read the Guardian report yesterday from the Italian pathologist who said he struggled to recognise the lungs of deceased patients because of the heavily fused material. We're borderline paranoid, but I quite like functioning lungs and other major organs. We follow Prof Devi Sridhar advice [Chair of Global Public Health, University of Edinburgh] to stay safe.

But each to his own.

Masks on in indoor places, everywhere else is fine as we don't have crowded areas anywhere yet. Bit mean of Mrs WN to make me wear it in the house though.surprised

Ttda, thanks for your reply about hired cottages etc. First time I've had access to the thread for a week. Read an article in the i today solely about potential precautions that hiring companies might have to make to alleviate hirers concerns. Different bodies are recommending such things as deep cleans, duplicate sets of cutlery and crockery, duplicates of soft furnishings, asking customers to strip the bedding off and leave in washing machines when leaving, no welcome food or drink pack etc.

Mrs.WN wants to see recorded video of everything they do before even thinking of it. Either that or spend the first 3 hours scrubbing the place out. Not sure we want to spend a relaxing time decontaminating someone else's property.
