Changing pitches after first night

We are staying on CMC site and am seeing something I’ve not come across before - at least not in such numbers: people have arrived yesterday and gone onto a pitch but this morning are moving to different pitch! Is this peculiar to this site - Black Knowl -  or does it happen a lot and I’ve not noticed before.  Can’t quite grasp why they didn’t settle on the initial choice or if they think they will get more choice today arrive a day later & save a pitch fee.

Oh wow! So interested to see the thread I started four years springing back into life!

Funnily enough we are off to Black Knowl this weekend so will see what pitches are free that we might like - or shall we move next day??

In the past four years we actually moved ourselves once but only because we were with friends for 10 days and the only pitches free were nowhere near one another. The pitch opposite our friends was coming free next day and the warden was kind enough to tell us this so we did move the next morning. But my OH is of the opinion that once we've set up that's it - normally.
