Drones

So Drones are having a bit of a bad press recently, but despite this I bought my preferred model in the January sales, a DJI Mavic Air.

My main hobby is walking and whilst out I like to record our walks with an ageing digital SLR.

When we were walking the "Broads" I thought the photographic capabilities of a good amateur Drone could come in quite useful, and my goodness I was not wrong, stunning still pictures and equally amazing video.

As a person who flew early model RC helicopters I am amazed at the ease and flight abilities of this Drone, it's a shame that as usual it's the few that seem to ruin it for the responsible many.

Give it some welly Welly, love to see the footage of Drones, as in all walks of life there are the 'few' that give bad press. We see it in threads about electric usage, dog walking, awning heating, speeding , the list goes on laughing

For some beautiful Sunrise footage over frost & mist in the Lake District check out the photographer & videographer Nigel Danson on Youtube, stunning workπŸ‘πŸ»

Thanks Rocky for pointing me to this man's YouTube channel, I'm now a subscriber.

I've looked at his other videos and found one for his Mavic drone, within he explains the camera settings he uses!

Not sure I will follow them, but incredibly informative to have.

He seems to use a high end Photo editing suite to enhance the results, but very interesting to see how a professional does it. I have downloaded Pinnacles latest version, the basic one, which is the upgrade of the video suite I used almost 20 years ago for my video camera, remember those?

Thanks again πŸ˜€

W&M, most of the Youtube pro’s incorporate Drones in their work flow. ND is one who is just buzzing when he’s on the screenπŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜Š

edit-check out Simon Baxter too, he is big on woodland & forestry, his B-roll is excellent, 2nd only to his panoramic filming using a Drone.

Personally  I  prefer  a  12 bore  under/over  with  solid  shot   innocent

As long as it's not toxic lead shot you are spreading across the countryside some would say that should be okay in this instance.surprised

Solid shot makes a shotgun an illegal firearm. And easy to miss with, unless a rifled slug.

Number 00  or upto 4 buckshot is best for drones.😨

Out and about today I used the drone as I intended, to gain visual access to buildings I couldnt walk to.

This is I believe used to br a wind pump, its sat in a Reed bed.

Best of all I hovered the drone directly over the ruin, the bricks of the walls are something

I know this is an old thread but I am looking for advice.  I know that there was another thread regarding drones a couple of months ago, did it get trashed?

Now for the advice.  I have recently purchase a DJI mini 2.                         My phone is a Samsung S21  5G.                                                                    I have been on the Google play store to download the DJI Fly App but I can’t find it so I have downloaded the DJI Pilot app.  This doesn’t appear to work, the message says that an aircraft is not connected.  If I move the wheel on the controller the camera moves (curious).

I know the drone, controller work cos I’ve connected via the flight App to my i-pad mini 2.

Anyone got any ideas

Hi One. The more recent thread was trashed but was contributed to by a very knowledgeable poster called Cooperboy. He doesn’t seem to have been around before or since, unfortunately.
