Hi Everyone,

As you know Ash who originally set up this discussion has left RSBP to pursue his Master’s Degree.  I'd like to introduce myself - I'm Tania and I'll be providing the Club Together pages with an official RSPB presence.

I'll be looking to update you all with interesting conservation and wildlife stories and will be looking to answer any questions that you may have related to our work, our partnership with the Caravan and Motorhome Club or anything wildlife/nature related.

Very much looking forward to engaging with you all! smile

Although we technically can gain free entry to RSPB reserves by being members of the CC we still pay our membership to both organisations as both give us immense joy.

Ash, can you do me a favour though. Ask your reserve managers to stop maintenance work when we're due a visit. We'll let you have a timetable of prospective visits if it helps!Happy

+1, me too WN(1st paragraph)Happy

Ash, I should have added 'I don't think you'll need to pull them off the job, as last I heard 'Wherenext' was having a good time at the Burton Mere Wetlands reserve.

Write your comments here...They were knocking hell out of some trees near one of the Lakes in order to build a new hide! I swear they know when we're coming! Lol.

Try across the bird nesting season (Mar - Aug), any maintenance work has to wait until after, you can thank the birds for that Cool

Looks like some reserves are trying to get sorted  before Easter rather than before March.

I visited Titchwell today to discover the whole fen trail is shut  until Easter for renewal of the boardwalks and this was posted today from my local RSPB reserve back home:

Work starts today on Allen and Eric Morecambe paths.Hides, paths and car park closed 14-24 March. Rest of reserve and centre open as normal
12:30 a.m. - 14 Mar 2016

Unfortunately a lot of that type of work requires good, dry weather and it seems to be that the start of March has been pretty glorious so far. So I assume they are doing their best to get it finished before peak visitor season.

OH and I typically make around visits to RSPB sites most years as we travel around. Even though we can use our club cards we decided to join

Ash, can you let us know what extra pressure can be brought against Malta and Cyprus (see thread on Turtle Doves). How can they thumb their noses at EU legislation in this way? Obviously the RSPB is involved in monitoring and helping local wildlife organisations but perhaps you could enlighten us further as to whether any progress is being made because it doesn't seem like it.
