How's your footy team doing?

I'm starting this thread again because it seems to have been a casualty of the change over to the new site. The Terriers scecured another away win last night at Burton. Two wins in a row now after a barren spell. It'll all go pear shaped on Friday when we go to Norwich because the game is to be televised , we haven't won on the telly for ages.

Surprised that there has been a few days silence on here, or are the rest of you all Primates  no no sorry I really meant Premier Division Followers  embarassed

T'Alex had another three pointer today, sent Scunthorpe back to do some ironing  ( see what I did there anybody  wink )

Still hanging on to third spot, just to upset those below who are fighting hard but failing to do our promotion hopes any damage at all.

I didn't have much to say after our poor show at Middlesbrough but I'm buzzing after yesterday.

The two lads who missed sitters at Borough made up for it in spades. Our young centre back scored from another set piece ( that's 3 of the last 4 goals from set pieces) 😲 and our, up to now, out of form striker scored a worldy, smashing into the top corner from 25 yards.

Its getting very hard to watch us hanging on to a one goal lead especially when the officials keep finding all that stoppage time. Against Forest we played 10 minutes in all, 4 at the end of the first half and another 6 at the end. Yesterday we played 3 minutes and 9. The game didn't finish until 5 minutes past 5! My GS said he felt sick and couldn't watch the last minutes yesterday he was inspecting the stand roof for a long time bless him.

Its high time they brought in the stopping clock a la Rugby League. Our ground already has one since we share with Huddersfield Giants.

Another three points always welcome.

Nice to see The Alex have some Christmas Spirit about them  smile

Four nil up against Carlisle well before half time  So now they are relaxing under grey winter skies and have allowed them there far  Northerners to save face with a goal.laughing

Even poor old Macclesfield have dragged themselves up from 1 -- 0 down to, at present,  2 -- 2 after having gone 1 -- 2 up but it is only Port Vale they are playing of course  wink

Just noticed Uddersfield AND Bristol Rovers are having a bad start to the New Year  BUT , Should Young Pauline be looking in, then Forest and Burton are both winning ( I'm not sure which side she follows now but 'Forest was always her first choice a couple of years ago smile )

Don’t know what other footy fans think, but VAR is doing my head in 😱.

When it was first introduced, I thought it was a really good idea. How wrong can you be!
What do other CT footy fans think?

I  was under the impression that V A R was intended to be, like the cricket version, to correct & cancel out obvious 'bloomers' but they appear to have been fitted with micrometers surprised.  All made worse by the fact that football as we know it is a fast free-flowing game and not intended to allow players to hang around getting cold muscles while the 'measurements' take place.

There has been a spate of comments saying that the rulers of the game said recently that such measurements should not take place. However I think there must be a threat offered that any such " His toe was offside" rulings will see the official responsible consigned to schools football at playtime .wink

Good luck with curing your headache  Pliers kiss

I've only experienced VAR live on two occasions with Town, both in the FA Cup, and it worked in our favour both times. One was against Man U at home when Mata had a goal ruled out for offside and the other was yesterday when the Saints suffered the same fate.

However I agree with you Pliers especially with marginal offside decisions. There seems to be far too much reliance on technology which apparently is not always as accurate as they think.

The other issue which needs resolving is the use of pitch side monitors. To deny the referee the use of them is totally ludicrous IMHO. It poses the question who is actually refereeing the matches because the ref on the grass doesn't seem to have much say in a VAR decisions. As for the promise that VAR would only be used to correct clear and obvious errors, that seems to have gone completely out of the window.

Well at least the Crewe Fans that I know said that it was a good game, despite getting the Barnsley Chop and going down 1 -- 3.

Still there is half a season to go & much to look forward to, so Onward & Upward we shall go !!

Hope you've all enjoyed the weekends matches especially the Merseyside Derby --  Quite a good game and oh those young Scousers can play a bit can't they  surprised
