Right  now  I'm  celebrating  the  fact  that  I  didn't  get  SKY  so  I  could  watch ( so  very  nearly  said  enjoy yell)  the  England  v West Indies  test  cricket.  After  all  the  wonderful  reports  of  how  the  team  is  building  up  into  a  World  Beating  Side  it  seems  that  it's  just  another  race  to  the  pits.  I'm  getting  the  feeling  that  watching  Sunday  football  between  a  couple  of  over age  pub  teams  will  bring  much  more  excitement  &  pleasure  until  Easter Egg  Rolling  commences  wink

I don't expect to see any improvement what-so-ever in the standard of cricket in the short to medium term !  I treated myself to a couple or so of different papers today ~~  all of them proposed improvements/changes to the cricket organisations responsible for red / pink / white ball games. The only consensus was to sack the whole of the management, including the tea ladies, and starting again BUT, alas, from very different points  and using the same bods but in different contexts  yell  frown  YEUK !!.

At last a batsman with a backbone, although the rest of them, Stokes excepted, are a sorry lot.

Hooray, Three Cheers,   Well done the England Bowlers, Congratulations !!

Why, What For  Do I hear you asking ?? Well the bowlers out-batted those, alleged, batsmen { note, please I am NOT a Woke Bloke smile  }  and England & Wales drew the fourth Test Match So  not white-washed ~~~  and that's about the best I can say !!

Now I'm  off for a nice warming bowl of  porridge  so take care , bieeee

Isn’t it a bit sad when we are excited because they managed to bat out a draw

Very sad indeed, Roger cry  But I have to admit that  it's mainly the same old  names that get the rosettes and plaudits, alas.

One good thing that could come out of this disastrous series is that hopefully we won’t see Rory Burns opening the batting in a test match again, second innings excepted. I’ve watched an awful lot of cricket and a lot of awful cricket  in my nearly 78 years on this earth, but I can’t recall ever seeing an opening batsman in a Test Match get run out in the second over with 2 runs on the board. Surely Burns must have realised that this was his last chance to redeem himself, and that his job was to knuckle down, play himself in and try to craft an innings.

The bowlers are busting a gut to help this team salvage something, they’ve had a good start in both innings, but they’re being let down by the so called batsmen.

Cricket needs a root and branch sort out, and yes I did intend the pun.

Rant over, I’m off to the JSS to get frozen to the marrow watching a team with some real spirit,  currently punching above their weight

Well, result from JSS no worse than t'Alex Roger at least as far as the result goes  wink

Alas the crikit is living up to  { MY } expectations 104 ~~ 5 with an hour to go till Close of Play

Dammit  107 -- 6 !!

Chance of the Extra Half Hour being taken if another pair of berks are out  !!

At least that will allow Brian to sleep perchance NOT to dream !!

{ As far as Burns &  several others are concerned maybe we will see them regularly out on the Green Sward at the start of play in England  --  only as junior ground staff of course  !

ARRRRGGGGHHHH !!   107 -- 7 ( Icebergs in my coffee fit to sink the Titanic   cry  )

Snivel, snivel, sob, sob, sob  --  Standard performance from England & Wales Test Team !

Two wickets gone before I could get back on !

123 -- 9

and now it's all over in three days

124  all out

first wicket went at 68 ( Tea Interval )  and 56 runs later all participants loading their cases etc for the trip home.

Sickening !!

The result from the JSS was better than I expected . However it was true to form, go in front early then get 10 men behind the ball and ship a late goal and throw away two points
