Euro footballing competition

I understand that there is some sort of competition for footballists coming up soon.

I drew the team from Germany in our sweep at CAB. Do I have any chance of winning?

As I understand it, some people have to kick a ball into a net, or something, and the one who does it the most times wins the game.

Seems a bit pointless to me, but I thought I'd give it a go. Exciting these office draws, aren't they? Certainly more interesting than kicking a ball about.

I bought a Swiss motorway vignette from a rural post office near Como and they gave me a footie ball raffle ticket for this competition which is occurring.I gave it to the bloke next in the queue and he was as pleased as punch, at least I think he was but he had a very strong regional accent so he might just have been inviting me for lunch

IanH You have much to learn.  Another game where the ball has to go into the net is Netball.  Netball players are big girls in blouses.  On the other hand Football players are big girls blouses.  The difference is subtle but important for cognoscenti like what I am.

Well, from what I hear on the news, the English versus the Russians was a right old scrap, with neither side coming out of it too well.

Not too sure what happened in the game though.....who kicked the most balls (or whatever it is they do). Undecided

Augurs well for peace and harmony at the next World Cup when you also have the heady additional racial factor added in. Sounds like FIFA really thought tht one through.Undecided

So, do the English footballers play any more games, or is that it? I thought that the tradition was that they played a few games and then had to rely on Bolivia (or someone) to beat someone else by 10-0 to be able to play someone else?

When will they be announcing that my German lot have won?

Exciting stuff this footballing, isn't it?

On the news at the moment. Many England fans causing mayhem in Lille. and fighting with the police.

The uefa are wimps they talk a lot, but do nothing, they really need to send a strong message to football supporters in international tournaments by  banning  any country where their supporters cause trouble. -

---Start with Russia and England, the worst offenders.
