I need to buy the wife something for Christmas ,do I,

1, get her a set a saucepans that we can both benefit from

2, some jewellery ,that only she will benefit from , or

3 , some new tools for the shed that she will throw back at me , but at least I would not have wasted my money, and I can benefit fromUndecidedSurprisedFrown

For years David and I (David hereafter referred to as 'The Partner;) have kept lists of 'Things I would like...........'   These are updated whenever we see anything we like, and just before Christmas with things we need............!  By Christmas these lists can run to quite a lot of very varied items.

Our family do the same, and about a month before Christmas we exchange lists.  That way someone can choose whether to buy 'the partner' the crowbar, the North Yorkshire Ordnance Survey map, or the spade that he really wants, or the bottle of very special wine that's also on his list.  They can choose the nice pearl earrings that are on mine, or the more essential new measuring jug, digital scales, or the 'I would very much like this' Paul Carrack CD that I also put on my list!  I hope someone's taken the hint!

Write your comments here...if "the partner" has any sense he'll rush off tomorrow and buy it. Aldi is selling them at £3.99 and it's a 1 litre, Pyrex made, one as well.

It's just surprises in this household, it seems to work most years.Smile

Write your comments here...It takes some effort to get that WOW! look on her face but it's worth it.

We've stopped doing presents it seems silly, if we want something we buy it, why wait to see if someone will buy it for you. My sister and BIL buy what they want then hand it to each other for wrapping up then they put them under the tree to open on Christmas morning. I stopped dropping hints to OH years ago as he never listenedSurprised so took the approach "you can get me that for Christmas if you like" wait till Christmas day to find not what I had suggested but something else that 'he' thought I might likeFrown

Similar here.   We generally treat ourselves to something for the house that we want but don't REALLY need.

Nip into Ann  Summers and buy something totally inappropriate.  Could be the best Chrissy ever!
