What words don't you like?

I dislike the word Kid used in the context of childrenYell

Kids are  young goats, human beings have children

RFU, I know it's not a word, but due to Saturday's debacle at Twickers it is

Actually it's three words isn't it Admiral, but only the first and last would be permitted on CT! Laughing

I dislike the overuse of the word 'absolutely' on the television, when uttering 'yes' would suffice.

"Excellent" and "Brilliant" are also overused in much the same way.

Not specifically a word, but still irritating to me at least, when did weather forecasters start saying "in the overnight period" rather than ...er..."overnight"? Undecided

I was once advised that bath does not contain an 'r'.  Next thing we know there will be a claim that 'Geordie' is received pronunciation. Wink

Tomarto, tomayto!

Hmmm - won't rise to the bait Wink

However the southern-based "received pronunciation" doesn't stop them putting an extra "r" in drawing does it?

At least those lovely Geordies don't irritate me by saying "drawring" !!  That is definitely not well received pronunciation here at Bugs Towers in deepest Northumbria!!

Cheers

"Basically". Lots of people start sentences saying basically and it is basically unnecessary, basically over used and basically a waste of time. Oops
