What does the Term "Hash Tag mean?

Now I'm really glad you ask the question, TF. I'm just a baffled as ever though!!

The # sign is a 'sharp' in music.  It was a sharp centuries before it was a hashtag.  Ask any musician.....

Similar only but not the same.  Sharp has two vertical lines, and the other two are inclined upwards to the right so that they show up against the horozontal lines of the staff.

Octothorpe (or hash) has two horizontals and inclined verticals.

Brian......6 Music is a digital station, not available on FM.....so you need a DAB radio.

We used to manage very well without hashtags and IT. 

Using hashtags is not compulsory and IT can be avoided. My MIL manages very well without both. 

Language evolves all the time. When hashtag becomes 'old hat' there will be something else. The world won't stop turning 

Obviously not everyone shares my sense of humour. If I didn't embrace technology I would hardly be posting on here!!!

Are we embracing technology on here ? I thought we were propping it up and finding ways to keep the elastic bands working, please do not adjust your set.....
