Yes I had to make this decision about 5yrs ago.  Hardly used the van like you. Still look when vans are towed and feel I would like another ,but to be realistic not viable. Still come back on here for a browse and reminisce

Going to a cottage in Dent on Saturday. (10 miles from Hawes) £258 for a week all in. Hawes site would be £190-30 and sharing facilities. No contest. The best thing we did was sell our campervan on cost and convenience.

Sometimes you just know it's the right time. We had been caravanning for 35 years and had recently bought our best caravan ever. Then together we just decided it was just getting too much hassle, collection from storage, getting it on the drive to pack etc, towing. So we bought the static. Picked our site very carefully, happy to always go to a place we love and is very different from where we live. Have never regretted it, just wish we had done it a few years sooner. Think we had just got into a mind set of this is how we holiday, sometimes it's worth trying something a bit different, it worked for us. ( still like to browse here for a catchup sometimes though)

I think you might be on the same site as a cousin who has done the same, enjoyed a campervan for many years but now enjoying time by the Avon. smile

Yes Brue, we are a few steps from the Avon. Lovely site, a mile from Stratford and a short drive and we are in the Cotswolds.

Haven’t been on here to post for about 3 years as we sold our tourer then. We enjoyed going on mini tours ( if you will) of about 3-4 weeks at a time usually stopping at sites for an average of about 4-5 days. However problems with my spine started to take  a toll and the hitching & pitching started to become too troublesome and spoiling the pleasure of touring.

So we sold our caravan ( via autotrader) and became static ‘van owners. As our home from home is just under an hour and a half from our bricks & mortar home we manage to trip back and forth on a very regular basis.

If your particular piece of kit ( touring/static caravan or motorhome) is just sitting there not getting used then it’s time to re-evaluate and decide whether it’s time to sell up & move on with no regrets but lots of happy memories. And perhaps you might find another way to make even more happy memories in other ways that open up.

I wish SELL all the best for the future and my he find those happy memories to file away on a very regular basis.

I think it’s definitely the right decision  SELL. 10 nights in 2 years? That’s an expensive item you have that you don’t use. When retirement comes, go for it again and enjoy.
