The new £5 Note!

Well what do you think?  Ive had four in general use (Change) now.  Quite like them really, but I think they are feeling a bit thin and flimsy, and consider that they would have felt better if they had been made to feel a bit more substantial, however I understand that they are actually much stronger than the old paper ones.  IMHO, The colour is  a bit  weak, so wish they had been produced a bit richer in that respect. However despite those reservations, we had better get used to them pretty quick because the old ones cease to be legal tender in May next year, - not that far ahead, so it is quite clear that the forthcoming change over will be very quick.  The £10 and £20 will follow on quite soon thereafter.

I was given a new fiver in Berkeley yesterday it does feel as though it won't crumple to a ragged mess like the old ones.  I must start coming the old ones hidden in old handbags etc!

Not seen one yet, but apparently they are meant to last longer than the old ones.

......however there are conflicting reports that say this is a load of rubbish.  Two pasties, a cake and a bottle of coke and it was gone.    Laughing  (cribbed from a Facebook post!)

Got one from a machine this P.M, excellent. Plastic feel but very flexible, it has a near clear panel that you can see your finger thru. Crisp colours. I think they're excellent. The £10 & £20 are nextHappy

Never seen one -- But - Don't see what everybody is getting so het up about.---  £5 is £5 --- so long as it's legal tender I don't care what it looks like.

Cool

I think that new owners are hanging on to them, like they did with the £2 coin when it first came in.  But the B of E  will be forcing the change quite hard, and the old fiver will quite quickly go out of circulation.

I got my first one in change yesterday (I like it!) and when I commented to the girl on the till that it was the first one I had seen, she said that they are getting loads of them now!  I assumed that she meant from the bank, though!
