Sniffer, Diary of A Dog In Isolation!

Hi everyone. My first post as an independent canine Club Member. My human’s aren’t in total lock down yet, but are behaving a bit strangely, so I thought I’d take to this Web thing and give it a go.

We canines, and I suspect other chilled out cuties of the fur and feather kind know a thing about communicating. But just how are we going to do it if our walks are on lock down, those well loved paths and trails an ever decreasing source of scents and sniffs?

Well, compared to our highly developed, totally secret Sniffer channels, our humans finally developed what they call Twitter. It’s a crude, limited, easy to understand type of communication thing, but it might be worth putting up with something similar until we can physically get together and wag our way along those walks again.

So, if you want to share lockdown tips, keep in touch, add a photo, say hello to a mate you haven’t seen for a while, feel free to add something here, on the Sniffer thread! It would be good to hear from other confined canines, but in this special circumstances, anything that woofs, neighs, squeaks, grunts, moo’s, tweets.......ok, even meows, is most welcome to join in. Humans without anything furry or feathered, but who would like to join in are most welcome as well.

My bolshy human (not the quiet one) has told me that there is a special pet section, but advised me to ask the in charge humans on this Web thing to leave it here for a while, so that more of us highly developed communicators can find it easily and take part if they want to, maybe moving it in a few days time to the pet section.

I’d sign off in my usual way at the moment, but apparently it’s not good etiquette with anything electrical, so get those paws tapping and say hello........

😱 I forgot.......fish! Most welcome, but don’t get too close to the cats!

Hi Bakers, I don’t mind being your virtual dog. Noisy One says if this blasted website was better she’d post some funny photos, but she’s too tight to sort out something that sizes photos better, and a bit dim anyway when it comes to techno gadgets🙄 But she’s a good human really, not bad at the walks and cuddles thing! I was allowed on the bed this morning, just for a post breakfast tickle, and it was their basket washing day, all bedding off, so it was nice. Sunday is toast morning as well, I usually blag a crust or two. I don’t have to ask in the MH, it’s easy to wake them up in there! Have to be careful where I plant the old paws though, otherwise the yelling starts🤣

This is a younger me, looking handsome, on a beach! The other photo is of the house legend, an Airedale called Bingley. He was a bit of a lad apparently, and although we never met, I have tried to emulate his forte for naughtiness. This is the day he was caught red handed, having a nap in the four poster. Top marks for naughtiness👍

Well Reiver that Bingley looks like he sets a very good example. Listen and look carefully you may hear and see other good things to do.

Tell your noisy one that she doesn't have to pay to post photos. Photo and picture Resizer is free app on android.

As I suspected our nocturnal visitor has finished hibernation and last night was seen wandering across the grass - those blasted sensor security lights make invisibility very difficult! Something to feed again, assuming there's anything in the shops 😤

Hi folks, I'm Tinker I'm a visiting dog, my owners are working and I prefer to get my paws under the table of some gullible people rather than be left on my own. I'm ten years old, getting a bit portly but as I'm a terrier I can run things off. I have to share with a chihuahua now and I have to say I like her little chihuahua biscuits quite a lot and so does Rollo the cat who lives with my day time foster parents. In fact Rollo and I are probably getting one too many chihuahua biscuits and those in charge are trying to stop us...grrr. wink (Oops I'm not supposed to make that noise!)

She’s terribly thick about such things Baker, and uses some strange box called an iPhone and an iPad, but will look into Resizer. You really do need to see more of me and the things I do.

That Bingley really did live the dream. He had two girls with him, pampering to his every need, although they did sometimes nick his treats apparently. Not only that, but they all got to live in Cornwall for around four months each year, so there was lots of beach visiting for them. I had a lovely girl who was my best friend, but she was a bit older than me, and got ill last year. I do miss her, we had some great times together. Noisy One thinks it would be too much to have another younger dog with me at the moment, but Quiet One might win, who knows......

Great to be a visiting dog Tinker, best of both Worlds, you get to see mates, but still get spoilt as an only dog as well!

Steady day today, local woods with Quiet One, Noisy was off on a mission to get Meds, including my Cocodamol, but we found her later, wandering the streets, peering at folks gardens. There was a lot of huffing and puffing replacing a drainpipe and fitting a water butt this afternoon. I had to assist, important that I am close at times like this, although I might have actually been a bit too close judging by the language at times when Quiet One was trying to step off ladders. But they got it done.

This Corona lurgy thing is getting to be a pain in the butt. Looks like long walks might be cur-tailed a bit now. Mind I don’t mind the local park, usually plenty of talent on parade in there, they will have to be careful with social distancing though, lots like to say hello to me in my chariot.

Chihuahua New Owner Training...how to train your owner with kindness.  🐕

Step 1

Get a chewy stick and place it on your owner's shoulder.

Step 2

Repeat till they get used to the idea.

Step 3

Gradually move away, leaving the stick on your owner's shoulder, get them to respond, good girl or good boy.

Step 4

You'll now have your owners confidence.

Step 5

Leave the room and encourage your owner to stay with the stick on their shoulder.

Step 6

Your owner will now sit with a stick on their shoulder while you go off and chew a few chair legs, books or whatever you fancy chewing. Well done you have trained your owner! laughing
