Politically incorrect Christmas adverts

I think people who are rushing to get the ban lifted should seriously consider what they wish for. If they undermine to rules on political messages in TV advertising it could open a complete can of worms. Iceland,  rather than create their own content they have used content from an overtly political organisation and that was why it was banned. This may have been a deliberate ploy to court controversy and the banning of the advert has created far more publicity for Iceland than if it had not been banned. So perhaps they don't want the ban overturned?

Personally I think many are disturbed by the increasing use of Palm Oil unless it is produced in a sustainable way. It's surprising where the issue crops up but for the animals involved there is no voice except ourselves.

I read that 25 orangutans are killed every day. Perhaps we could give them a Christmas by changing our shopping  habits? Anyway, they say palm oil is extremely bad for us.

Perhaps, to be fair to other supermarkets - grocery sellers, all Christmas ads should be banned.

This would, of course, please all non Christian religions and allow for peace to spread without boundaries.surprised

Some years ago a warning went out to dog owners of a waxy substance washed up on the beach which was dangerous to dogs. This was apparently palm fat. Apart from keeping away from the beach for a while I didn't take much notice. Then earlier this year there was a discussion on radio 2 about Iceland's decision to avoid palm oil. Purely on the basis that it was reportedly dangerous to dogs I started avoiding food containing it. If it's dangerous to dogs, a mammal, what effect does it have on people. Also like many dog owners I regularly saved a bit of food for them when I was eating.

I was horrified by how many food products contain the stuff and will not knowingly buy anything containing it. It was only later I considered the environmental implications.

On the plus side I have lost a lot of weight as I stopped buying the leading brands of bread, chocolate, cakes, biscuits etc. I've had to get smaller clothes.
