Its bad enough these days with these cold callers and fund raisers but last night at approx 7.30pm just as we were settleing down to watch the telly there,s a knock on the front door and standing there in the dark is a woman from the RSPCA. "Good evening sir sorry to bother you but have you got time for a chat" i said "do you realise what time it is and no its not convenient to have a chat" she says "Oh well if its any better i can come back in an hour " Surprised i dont know about others but if your going to knock on my door at that time you had better have a dam good reason.

Are these people for real.

You  need  to  have  a  pair  of  your  Walking  Football  Clogs  by  the  door  V9  !  Then  you  can  ask  them  if  you have  time  to  put  "Your  Kickers"  on, and then  reach  for  your  "Old  Faithful"  knobkerrie , just  for  support  of  course  Wink  !

we have cctv covering the front door, so if we don't like the look of people coming up the path we don't answer the door, we don't answer the door that oftenInnocent

If they have a collection pot for a good cause and have ID I will usually give a donation. Otherwise they get told to go away, whatever time of the day or night. Almost without exception they are trying to get you to sign up for regular contributions by direct debit. Even if I was interested, I would never do this at the front door with someone I have never met.

I live in a cold calling avoidance area that the Council has set up.  It works.  Not had anyone call for the last couple of yearsHappy

A few months ago I was on my front drive, sat on a stool, polishing my motorcycle.

A couple of people walked down the street, armed with briefcases, and two stopped alongside me.

One said, "You look like you're enjoying yourself"

I replied, " And you look like Jehovah's Witnesses, and I don't believe in sky fairies".

Shocked "Oh", then left me alone.

Like V all cold callers drive me nuts.

I used to get bothered by the "witnesses" until i had an altercation with a couple of them. They knocked on my door and straight away i asked what they were doing on my property uninvited and this smart arse said well where,s your "no Trespassing sign" i said "dont get clever with me mate now clear off and dont come back".Now i dont know if they make a note of this response but i,ve never been bothered by them since.Funily enough i did see one of these no cold callers signs a few days ago its the first i,ve seen of them.

A friend (devout Christian and ardent debater) once invited two JW's in for coffee and a chat. They left, deflated, after about an hour.she hasnt been bothered again

I have no problems with cold callers. Those door to door type are kept at bay by a locked front gate and beware of the dog sign.

I never get cold callers on the house phone either. Not quite true as I have recieved about 4 such calls at most in the last 12 years.
