New Pound Coin

The new 12 sided pound coin comes into use today.

I believe the old ones can still be used until 15 October, so we will have two types in circulation.

Apparently, a lot of vending and ticket machines (car parks etc) and shopping trolleys haven't yet been adapted to accept the new coins.......so we could be some fun and games for a while!

It took me ages as well to get on to this thread Bakers2.  Endless 'discussion locked' and 0 replies. yell Mr H has a mobile phone but doesn't use it.  I'm not sure that he knows how toundecided laughing I don't like the idea of my bank card details being used by phone either.  Oh well, we shall all see what happens.

Never paid for parking on my phone. Do you have to put in your card details? Or is it just charged to your phone bill, like when you make a charitable donation?

Seems easy enough to post here to me....

Posting does not seem to be a problem Ian. However navigating between pages does. I keep getting diverted to that hidden locked thread with zero posts.

That just happened to me too. I saw page 2 and decided I needed to go back to page 1. When I tried to get back on page 2 I got the thread locked message. What on earth is going on?😤

I have reported the thread as everyone including me 😃 experiencing oddities with it. I wanted to report SteveL post which I'd read, but I liked it, taken to log in page, taken to original post, went to bottom of page to select  >> got 0 replies. As if it isn't a long winded way to do something in the first place! Eventually found a post and reported. Hopefully something will be resolved.

I read in the paper that an amusement hall owner had spent £30,000 having all his machines altered to accept these new coins. He wasn't best pleased but said at least the timing of the release allowed him to do this before the season had started.

Perhaps if when the locked thread was moved into the hidden directory its name was changed to something else, New Pound Coin Locked, for instance, they would not keep getting mixed up.

Worth a try anyway.😀

I have raised this issue with Rochelle. We seem to have had a spate of duplicate posts and even one story recently which I am pretty sure are not the fault of the original poster. The problem is that if you try and remove or hide one of the duplicate threads it seems to have a knock on effect on the remaining thread. Clearly this is a fault in the software. I am waiting to hear back from Rochelle and one of us will update the situation once we have an answer.
