New Logo

Having seen various comments about the need for the name change, I've seen nothing about the safety aspects of the new signage. Have just returned from our first visit to a Club site since the change and discovered that the new signs/logo are almost unreadable from any distance on a busy road. The entrance to the Cirencester site is off a busy road down a lane which serves several facilities. Although we know the area, the entrance is one of three quite close together so I was approaching it carefully to make sure of the right one.

We saw a 'familiar' green sign and headed for it; fortunately it was the right entrance but the wrong sign. The CC sign was on the same post but almost indistinguishable with the tiny nonsensical logo and small lettering. Had we not known the area and seen the other sign we could have missed it.

Does anyone actually road test these things, or talk to local Road Safety Officers before these highly expensive changes are made? The previous signs were colourful, easily seen and did what it said on the tin. These look like a cheap ice cream logo and do not stand out at a distance.

Oh yes, and we were told we couldn't buy a green site badge as they are also being changed but none had arrived yet!

Just been looking - We have been away over 50 nights this year. On average we excede 150 per year. Appart from1 stay at St Davids all the others have been on commercial or Cls. A few years ago it would have been exclusively CC. The loss of income from us  alone to CC is high so in the short term are they concentrating on the wrong sector. Cant see much evidence of trying to attract back us oldies.

I have also cancelled.

The logo doesn't bother me. The dumbing down does

Personally I think the name & logo change has been fantastic. Following the announcement earlier this year, whenever there's been nothing entertaining on TV to watch, I've just come on here and had a right old laugh at all the ridiculous and hilarious fallout from it. Comments like:
It's wrong, needs changing and pressure from members will bring it about
I'm seriously thinking about cancelling my membership
Why wasn't I asked
The new logo has done nothing whatsoever to enhance the reputation of the club
I would like to ask if the new logo is actually legal
The disgraceful waste of money the new logo has caused
Whatever happened to the statistics I requested on the numbers of members polled
Senior club officers should be offered early retirement
A private room and a loaded revolver more like

Maybe a name change to The Victor Meldrew Touring Club would have been more appropriate.

Has it stopped members actually doing any of things that could be done before - No
Does it affect our stay on a Club site pitch - No
Can we still visit all the great sites in great locations across the UK- Yes
Does it actually make any difference whatsoever - No
Has it given rise to a pompous sense of self-importance -Afraid so

This post sums it up really...

"the change of name and logo has obviously caused trauma in many quarters. People are having to lie down in darkened rooms and their lives have been deeply affected and will never be the same again. Perhaps we should show some compassion for these poor souls who are now but shells of their former selves"

No doubt the nonsense will rumble on in one form or another, but all it does is reconfirm why the Club is trying to move forward.

Are you part of the "marketing dept" that came up with this latest poorly thought out "idea"/ego trip"undecided

I think the way the new colors/logo etc. were introduced was wrong, the money spent could have been better spent on a host of other things but my experience of the new entrance signs has not been bad. If you're looking for the old light green sign then you'll be likely to miss the entrance, look for the white and light blue sign and you'll find it. The white sign does stand out. If you think you'll be able to see the logo from any distance you must have more faith in your eyesight than I have in mine.

Another consequence of the rebranding is that the numbers on the pitch markers had to be changed from green to blue. Has anyone noticed this?

It's a shame that the Wardens valuable time was taken up by removing the old green numbers as the blue ones are difficult to see on blue non-awning pitch pegs!!

It's been pointed out to me by a non member that the new squiggle of a logo looks more like an online dating advert, things could be looking up!

A very backward design step going by the comments above.

Following Bargainbaggers comment I just googled "online dating logos".

Now I can see where the designer possibly got the idea from....!

And I thought the club had nicked and icecream logo.

Found these two signs side by side at the weekend. Logos not that dissimilar.  Ice cream anyone?

Posted on 08/07/2017 00:37

Funny that JD6620. Earlier this evening I posted a similar photo though the logos were more prominent. I was however, making the same point. Good to know I am not alone. However within 10 minutes of posting ...and 2 "likes", the photo has disappeared leaving only the square box. I wonder why??

The new logo is quite similar to the new Calor one. Some lazy advertising executive made his money easily that day!

My little protest against the new logo and wasteful cost involved is my refusal to display the new window sticker.  Long will the original logo remain on my van's window!

Whilst I don't particularly like the new colours on our current trip we have been to two Club sites, both of which required long range identification of the Club signs to know where to turn into the site access road. On both occasions the signing proved to be perfectly OK. Its all very well trying to associated the new logo with those used by other businesses but its not really what its all about. As members we need to be able to identify where site access is and from our recent experience it works on that level.
