Just to clarify some ridiculous suggestions I feel the need to make a point -strongly. My decision to abandon my support and participation of this forum was nothing to do with the outmoded and ill thought out "Star System".
It was in response to the total failure of the club to live up to their long term promises to listen to what members of the forum wanted, and to provide a vibrant new forum that was at the forefront of current thinking.
What we actually got was a thinly disguised facelift of the original poor system, and which failed to address the often voiced needs of the long term members.
I have been a member for many many years and strived to the best of my ability to remain constructive in the face of much negativity. Many of my much respected colleagues fell away and gradually lost interest, but I hung on, for too long it now seems, in the hope that the much vaunted new web site would deliver. But the disappointment proved to be too much in the end, and so I too went. But very occasionally I looked in. However, evidently nothing has changed. Still the same pointless suggestions that regular members have left because of the stars or other daft reasons!
The reason we left was because of the CC's refusal to listen!

Thank you for your honest and truthful informative post TF. Im sure your thoughts are replicated by many long term members of this forum.
I am seeing previous CC forum members posting on my other forums as new members.
As I only visit the CC forum occasionally and even then possibly for a few minutes on those days, the new forum problems are not really important. So I'm fairly laid back about them.
But for those who spend their days on here, they may not be so tolerant and feel as you do.
I wish you all the best for the future,
Regards.....Kennine

They can and do, indeed. As I have said previously, the forum is the least of the Club's website worries. Accessing other areas, such as CL searches are not easy, at least not with an IPad, and this is what annoys me more than anything else, as it is a paid for service, proper access is only granted once you become a member. Therefore, I, and quite a few of my Caravanning friends (who do not use this forum) feel very cheated. If I was a CL owner, I would want my fee back quite frankly, they are the big losers in this change over fiasco.
And why, for goodness sake, does the page jump to the top post if I "like" someone's post?

I just 'liked' your post tda and the page stayed where it was, it just refreshed that's all. Of course it will be device dependant as I'm using W10 on my desktop with Firefox, so a bit more testing of other devices/operating systems and browsers is in order.
Call me a pessimist but I believe a lot of content that is lost from the original forum will not be seen again I hope to be proved wrong regarding CL's

Yeah, as I am finding, if you use Apple devices, iPad, Mac book, not a good experience this website. The old version had it's moments, with Apple stuff, but not like this. Multi clicks required, jumps around all over. Advice from Live help was" do you have another device you can use?" Yeah.....really helpful, thanks CC! Me and tens of thousands of other iPad users.

A great improvement in the new system by the omission of "stars" has at last reduced the amount of waffle we used to see by the multi purple "star chasers". Even their "points earning for no effort" postings of +1 s have reduced enormously. That can only be good for the forum.
Well done to the CC IT department !!
