Hull- city of culture

Best wishes to Hull for the coming year. As many know, Hull, and many other Humber towns, have played a large part in the development of our hobby and the caravans and motorhomes we use. I wonder if Hull is going to celebrate this aspect of its 'culture'? Are folk going to visit the many events planned for the year? cool

We shall be doing a short East Yorkshire tour at some point and including Hull. The Deep, local "big" house Burton Constable, some of city museums. We were last there a couple of years ago, watching evening city centre cycling, and vowed to go back for another look around. Via Humber Bridge probably as well! Beverley isn't far away, another nice town with gorgeous Beverley Minster.

You lucky people living not too far away, I think you'll have a great time seeing Hull in a new light.smile

I would quite like to include it in one of our trips this year. All I have to do now is find a campsite with good transport links into the City.

If you do post regarding transport David, there are a few of us not to far away from the city that may be of help with information.

We have relatives in Hull and visit regularly.

A very good site is Burton Constable.

Public Transport runs regularly from Sproatley (1/2 mile away) to Hull.

I spent four very happy years there at the University there from 1979-1983. So many happy memories, living in Cottingham, first taste of independence from home, first drinks, met my wife there, first teaching practice at Kelvin Hall school, Sydney Scarborough's record shop (no CDs then) every Saturday afternoon. White phone boxes. The land of green ginger (that's a street)

Then almost 30 years later my daughter decided to go to university there too, so it was great to see the old place again. A lot had stayed the same, but  a lot had changed (no record shop for one) especially the marina area. A lot of really good tourist attractions.. All the best Hull!

Been to 'The Deep' and the docks but never really visited Hull and it's only 90 mins away! Really must go. Beverley is only 30 mins away and that is a lovely little town.
