I do not know if this discussion has been mentioned before but having a very near miss with a van and trailer that pulled out directly in front of me that had no door mirrors then proceeded  to try and push me of the motorway. I have been looking at a few dash cams so I can monitor what is going on around me has anyone got one or know anything about them,I would pleased if someone could enlightened me.

Not a lot too say about them really. They vary quite a bit in price but are easy too fit and run on a constant loop recording. They can also be set too record for a short while after you have left the car and can be set off by a motion dectector setting.I have them in two of my cars but i,ve never had call too refer too them as yet.I do think they are a good idea.

peter.

Would agree,  we have one we use in the motorhome, its on constant loop as Peter says. We can move it around between vehicles, OH looking at one for the scooter aswell, considering at times we seem to invisibleSurprised

Thanks for that  Peter the price isn't a problem, I hope you never have the need to refer to them, just like to know about recommended  makes and models thanks.

Hi, Ive had a dash cam for about 3 years now in our MH. its never off when we go away. They are all pretty similar but this one we got from Maplins and its fine. Its the Oitez 720p Dash Cam.

They even sell them in Sainsbury's petrol stations @ £30 if my memory serves me correctly.

I have one on my motorbike, which is needed more than any other vehicle and my coach has them front/rear/sides but those are seriously expensive and fitted proffesionally. Also have one in each car too. The ones I have on the motorbike and in the cars are Veho, expensive but good quality.

Everyday I have some idiot do something stupid and in the event of an accident they can be very useful.

BUT! They can also get you in a lot of trouble too and not just if the accident is your fault or you have done something dangerous or illegal. Deleting any criminal activity on them to avoid prosecution is a very serious offence and yes, they can retrieve Deleted User video. Don't have them anywhere near your speedo either. WinkLaughing

Go Pro seems to be 'the business' for this type of camera......but top end of the price range, I believe.

As usual when looking for something that you know nothing about it is like a minefield but I have been looking at a nextbase new model 312gw at halford unless  something else comes up.
