Any dash cam experts out there? I have a Nextbase 512gw which switches itself off when my car (16 reg Mondeo Estate) activates the stop/start. The camera isn't hard wired, its constantly left plugged into the 12v socket. Anybody got any ideas how I can overcome this annoying glitch. Would hard wiring it help? Thanks fo any ideas.

I run my dashcam from an ignition switched usb socket into a 6000mAh powerbank then to the dashcam. The powerbank was approx £10 .It charges as you run and can keep the dashcam going for quite a time whilst parked, certainly longer than the couple of minutes from the inbuilt battery. Handy if you get bumped in a carpark or fuel stop (had both happen in the past)

Get the picture?

Well, no.

As the saying goes "you don't know what it is that you don't know". I don't know why I might want, or need, a dash cam so was wondering what the reasons were that prompted people to get one.

You’ve never bothered to investigate the potential use? Gee😮

OK, clearly I am not getting across to you that I don't know what the potential uses are as I have never had cause to consider or investigate what they are.

If someone asked why I have a caravan I would hopefully be able to give an explanation, and opinion, of the benefits.

That's what I was asking in relation to dash cams.

You clearly aren’t getting across to me. Because it’s taken you 4 attempts to ask the question in a straightforward manner.

The purpose of a dashcam is to provide a video record of events on the road ahead.

The benefits of that are obvious to anyone who thinks about it.

We spent £12 on ours, cant say we use it much, the novelty wore off quite quickly. It works very well and we have a rear camera attached which has been useful for more difficult parking, OH did the installation. smile
