The NT definitely has no right or authority to close off a public right of way. It may be that it is a permissive right in which they can make changes but not normally without some consultation and notice but it not unknown for them to act is a high handed way.

I would imagine it was after consultation. Sometimes they have to be closed or diverted and there are usually planning time limits and reasons involved. I didn't mention the NT had done it illegally. The NT had a notice up directing people to the diverted route which was away from the "booked" area. Crowd control?

Either way he's made a rod for his own back and life doubly difficult for those who have to attempt to enforce the current lockdown rules.

He was within the vague lockdown rules.

I have no idea where Chequers is and agree a 45 mile trip would be equally silly. That was not the point of my post. Simply with so many minders etc they could see anything he does is scrutinised t the n'th degree. We dont want any means of diluting the message reports now shows.as the media is full of this story.

Mountains out of mole hills, 7 miles, so that must have been 14 miles round trip, i do this on a regular basis, i think cycling is probably much safer than walking as you are going at a greater pace so stay in contact with a person for a much less time than walking, so much less chance of becoming infected.

I see from press reports that the 2 ladies who were nicked and fined, went back to repeat the scenario with a professional photographer and sold the shots to the national press , why wouldnt you foot-in-mouth

Fish, you really need to check details before you post. We now know you post off the cuff without establishing relevant facts and it doesn’t do much for your credibility, tbh.

so you're saying he shouldn't get the same rights as the rest of us?  No exercise for Boris? What next he can't go shopping?

what message is being diluted?

In the present climate anything that gets in the way of the dire messages being put out is scandalous. The event yesterday, whether or not it  actually broke the law, it stretched the spirit. In this case there was ample room say at Chequers to take a bike ride that was away from prying eyes. Surely those at the very top are aware that everything they do is scrutinised and their legion of advisors are aware of this. Just wait for every man and dog to use this stretch as an excuse for their wrong doings..I know my views are straight to the point but there you are.

And if your views? were anyway near correct in your posts then you might be taken seriouslyundecided
