The review into the conduct of police in respect of the two ladies at Foremark Reservoir has been completed and the comments from the Chief Constable of Derbyshire, Rachel Swann are:
"Two fixed penalty notices that were handed to two women who had travelled to Foremark Reservoir on Thursday have been withdrawn and we have notified the women directly, apologising for any concern caused".
The CC also acknowledged that "At present, there is no clear limit as to how far people can travel to exercise".
On this basis I now feel I can drive the 4½ miles to Calke Abbey (where there were also numerous police present last week), where I know I will encounter far less people than I would walking the streets in my 'local area' and therefore feel safer.

Obviously worth her salt.
On the subject of distancing on walks, I sometimes take a steel rule which raises a smile and emphasises the requirement. If I wanted to be more forceful, I suppose I could take my camera monopod.

We've been booking since the booking system started several months ago. We go at least every two to three weeks. It's very local to us. We normally need to book two or three days prior to going. The booking system does restrict the number allowed into the estate so the number of people encountered in the 600 acres is really quite small.

Posted on 11/01/2021 18:33 byWe have shopped throughout. When the first lockdown started we changed our habits and started to shop at "pensioners hour" which at our Sainsburys is 8 until 9 but we are quite often on our way home by 8:30. We both shop but separately, I use the scanning gadget OH does a conventional checkout. We have 2 lists and are in and out in about half the time we would normally take. At that time of day its extremely quiet and I cant think there is any problem about direction of travel through wide aisles

Posted on 11/01/2021 18:05 by TakethedogalongIt’s got to be said.........male shoppers definitely do things differently to female shoppers🤣 My experience is based mainly on observing my OH in action I add. He’s had a year off, so hopefully he will have unlearned a lot and I can restart his training when it’s safe. 😂

OH related her experience of trying to get hold of a box of eggs in Aldi one day in the first lockdown..........a couple in their 60s were looking at the eggs, blocking her getting near what she wanted, lifting and inspecting a box of every type and size, lots of discussion, then after holding several people up, moved on without selecting any.
She saw them later doing similar with other products.Reckoned it must be their first visit to the store.
Then she saw them at the checkouts, despite large signs saying to pack at your car, or the packing area, holding up the queue by packing everything carefully into their bags as it was scanned through.
There was a lot of glowering from those behind them in the queue!

Posted on 11/01/2021 19:20 by moulesyThe most amusing thing about that story is possibly that a government spokesman refused to say whether he had been driven to the Olympic Park or cycled there from Downing Street!
