And  yet  another  of  my  heroes  ,  John  Surtees  has  died.

The  only  World  Champion,  I  believe,  on  both  Two  &  Four  wheels  but  a  quiet  restrained  talent.

An icon of my boyhood. I remember a photo of him after a TT race with the side of his boot worn away when cornering.

Tonight we have had the sad news of the death of Chuck Berry.  Greats such as Roll Over Beethoven and Johnny B Goode.  What always brings a smile to me is the scene in one of the Back to the Future films where his 'cousin' rings up and says words to the effect, 'Chuck, this the sound you've been looking for'.  Of course, it was a song that he actually wrote.  Such a loss to the music world.  R.I.P. Chuck Berry.

I remember seeing Chuck Berry on stage (in the UK) along with Little Richard and Bo Diddley back in the sixties. He has just got to have been one of the best guitarists there ever was. RIP.

Me too - but with the Moody Blues, Long John Baldry and the Graham Bond organisation, in Leeds in January 1965.  Later the same month Long John Baldry bought me a drink at a hotel in Ilkley where the band were playing!   And around the same time Joe Cocker, Rod Stewart and John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers played concerts separately on various Saturdays in January and February at the Troutbeck Hotel, also in Ilkley.  Those were the days, when you could dance to, as well as meet and chat to famous musicians, when they mixed with the audience before the show or in the intervals!

Sad to hear of Chuck Berry's death............. he will be missed by fans and by other musicians.
