Sad to hear today of the death of Colin Dexter.  Writer of the Morse stories and inspiration for the popular TV series, and ultimately the 'spin-offs', Lewis and Endeavour.  Dexter, who went to Cambridge University ended up living in Oxford and ended up writing many stories associated with Oxford University.

Colin Dexter - thank you for the stories.

Indeed  David,  I  only  found  out  this  evening  that  he  had  the  same  habit  as  another  'Film  Based  Director"  ,  Alfred  Hitchcock, of  appearing  in    little  Cameo  roles  in  his  productions.  No  guessing  the  Guilty  Party  after  just  a  few  minutes  in  his  work.

Me too - but with the Moody Blues, Long John Baldry and the Graham Bond organisation, in Leeds in January 1965.  Later the same month Long John Baldry bought me a drink at a hotel in Ilkley where the band were playing!   And around the same time Joe Cocker, Rod Stewart and John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers played concerts separately on various Saturdays in January and February at the Troutbeck Hotel, also in Ilkley.  Those were the days, when you could dance to, as well as meet and chat to famous musicians, when they mixed with the audience before the show or in the intervals!

Sad to hear of Chuck Berry's death............. he will be missed by fans and by other musicians.

Gosh - that brings back memories, Val.  I remember going to an all-night blues concert in Leicester in the 60's when The Bluesbreakers, Fleetwood Mac and Eric Clapton were all performing. Clapton, Mayall and Pete Green got together for a jam session at the end - that was something never to be forgotten!

As this thread has not been added to for over a month (a good thing in some ways!!!) I will remove the sticky and suggest until we get the fix to the correct section people just post in General Chat.

Sad  to  hear  that  James  Bond  II  aka  Roger  Moore  has  passed  away  aged  89.

Dammit  I  can  even  remember  him  modelling  'wooly  pullys'  !!

But  never  the  less  he  gave  me  much  pleasure  just  by  raising  a  single  eye-brow.

And  now  we  have  lost  John  Noakes,  the ex-  Blue  Peter  presenter  to  Altzheimers  I  understand.  Sadly  the  worst  part  of  the  info  I  have  seen  dwells  not  on  the  great  pleasure  he  gave  to  so  many,  but  on  his  (allegedly)  long  running  battle  with  Biddy  Baxter  as  if  that  mattered  a  jot.

Thank  you  J N  o  hope  you've  been  reunited  with  Shep  &  co  !
