thinking of trying the coast to coast cycle ride as a challenge for my 70th year!  Just wondered if any of CT Members have any experience of this or any other long distance cycle ways

Have a great time Oneputt - I was very impressed by the comedienne - Jo Brand when she walked it - last year?  Amazing challenge for her.  I would pick cycling!  My BIL did the long one many years ago John O'Groats to Land's End for his church (he was the vicar) I remember how much he praised the support team that went with him.  One of my wishes was to ride a horse on the Soutdowns Way - being from that part of the world - but that didn't get done sadly.  Go for it.

I remember many years ago, back in the fifties IIRC, before veggie and vegan was 'fashionable', there was some lady who did the Lands End to John o'Groats on a diet of carrot juice or some such. Got a fair bit of TV coverage at the time.
