Cash still King

Went to Lady Margaret Park on Wednesday. The card machine would not work despite trying on three different occasions. The wardens said it had been down for some days . In fact they had to send a number of visitors away to cash machines as only cash could be accepted for bookings. Fortunately I always carry cash and only use cards for Petrol and larger purchases. With no Banks left in Chirk I don't know how far away people had to go. Despite our "progress" towards the cash less society It still rules above all other fangled gadgets.

Perhaps it was something to do with the "new" web site!!!

Glad you told me it is CASH only - now I will not book my holiday as I anticipated, because I tend to ignore paper money and only deal with cards, albeit contactless or otherwise.

I looked over that site, whilst visiting the castle last year and was looking forward to getting there this year.

We always carry a reserve of cash for just such an eventuality. However, this tends to last for ages, as we tend to use cards for everything we can. Particularly since contactless payment and Apple Pay came in, as it is so quick and convenient. It also saves traveling miles to the bank, since they have closed all the local branches down.☹️

Should they not have warned new arrivals there was an issue before arriving at the site?

If the machine had been "down for some days" then the problem should have been fixed full stop.I would imagine that most people including myself pay by debit card so a situation like that is no help at all.

On occasions have come across this problem with other companies when paying by card so we each always carry some cash & also what my OH calls a ‘parking purse’ containing change.
