Started a new thread , let the old one run out.

Unfortunately the title is missing a E and a M but you know what it means . Unless anyone knows how to alter the title

Coke fires.....difficult to light, but great heat when going....Cool

I remember having to go and get the coke from the gas works. We had an old pram that we took and, after queuing up behind folk with various containers, we positioned it under a chute where a man pulled a lever to fill the pram. I then had to push it home but luckily that was only one block away. By eck, life was tough.

Write your comments here...we did that too. I had a trolley ( you'd probably call it a buggy) it was made out of bits of wood and pram wheels. My brother and I used to go down to the gas works on a Saturday morning. The hard part was the steep uphill pull on the way back.
