I slice onion very thinly and cook it in wrapped foil, nothing added but it's handy for burgers and "things in a bun" type of  food.

We do this.  Also we do the same thing with chopped button mushrooms and sometimes with tinned potatoes.

Last year I found a new way(to me at least). Sausage slit to allow a prune inside and the wrapped in streaky bacon.  Went down well with children as well.  Asparagus is good wrapped with bacon too.

Asparagus is brilliant on a BBQ Just wrap it on foil with a knob of butter (other yellow fat based spreads are available they just aren't as good cool) Throw it on the BBQ.  Remove it after 5-20 minutes it doesn't really matter, which is the brilliant part  and enjoy.  Then enjoy the after effects everytime you go for a wee for the next 12 hours embarassed
