Hello

We have a Cadac Carri Chef 2. Have only used it once, and the meal was not a success. Steak was bland and tastless, no bbq taste at all. It was also a pain to clean. Husband now hates the bbq and says we've wasted money on it. Can anyone please give us some tips on where we are going wrong with it or what we are meant to cook on it? Many thanks

Don't cook fish then......Wink

To nice not to......Tongue Out

Agreed, and our favourites of Sardines, or Mackeral are definitely best cooked on the Cadac, otherwise you are smelling them for a week.

Clairenizzi, the Cadac Is not really a BBQ its just a gas hob with a selection of cooking surfaces for use outside, you will never get a BBQ taste with it. You will only get a BBQ taste with a charcoal BBQ.

i have a Cobb and use it with different wood chips to give a lovely smokey flavour.

Might not be authentic BBQ taste but a sprig or two of woody Thyme / Rosemary placed on to the defector, when in BBQ mode, produces enough herby smoke to give lamb a lovely flavour.

I'm not a fan of fish - unless it's fried with chips!  I manage quiet well with my steak, sausage, burgers and mushrooms on the BBQ grill - and finish of with a camembert cheese wrapped in foil and grilled.  Ideal for dipping French bread.  Good for a full English breakfast too - on the non-stick griddle.  (Hint: I always use a baco-glide sheet - it makes the griddle much easier to clean)

Have you checked your cholesterol count lately?

I don't bother these days - just keep taking the tablets!!

The trouble with fish like mackeral, you can smell and taste it for ages after eating....and if you burp, you get the taste all over again.

Not at all. Just concerned for DSB's welfare. Smile  Church organists are on the endangered list, you know.

Absolutely right about the shortage of church organists though CY.  Hope I've got a few more miles left on the clock though!! Laughing

Question for those of you who do have a Cadac. . . . does it plug in to an external gas point on the caravan (if you have one) or do you need to purchase a seprate gas bottle?

I would like to buy one but the hubby isn't too keen as he likes our little webber charcoal bbq.  He's taking some convincing. . .

Yes, you can use it from the external gas point. Good luck with the persuading.Smile
