What is a good film?

Thinking about watching films in the comfort of your home, where it's too easy, sometimes, to get distracted, I wondered how you'd rate a film's quality

having just watched 'Independence Day, resurgence' I realised I hadn't fallen asleep! So it must have been reasonably interesting.

sometimes we watch a film and it's so riveting you find it difficult to pause to even make a drink, (or other necessary activities)

So how do you rate a film's quality

Today we watched “It’s A Wonderful Life” on Film 4, it’s only in black and white and has no fancy special effects but the acting by James Stuart is fantastic, maybe that’s what makes a good film.Smile

Can recommend A Streetcat Named Bob. Wasn't sure what to expect due to the subject matter but an excellent film.

Write your comments here... what's it about.  ?    Bob

It's about a homeless man, who is addicted to drugs and how he turns his life around after being befriended by a ginger cat.     It's a true story and Bob is played by himself - a very clever cat!

Gregory Peck! Now there's a good actor. To kill a Mockingbird, The Big Country, Captain Hornblower, Moby Dick....all classics!

There were quite a few good actors during his era TDA, Kirk Douglas was another talented actor in my opinion.

Read the book last year, wonder how the film stands up to it.

Last film we watched in the caravan was Doctor Zhivago, took care of a rainy day beautifully. One of the few very good books that transfered almost intact to a  great film.

watched that just before the start of my first college term - aged 18. I enjoyed it that much that I sat in the cinema and watched it a second time
