following on from the early arrival story, which I completely agree with if it says 1pm then it should be 1pm. To add to thus we arrived at the required time at Castleton to find 2 units already their booking in, when we finally were let in there was a caravan outfit behind us didn’t take a great deal of notice until we arrived at the service pitches of which there are 8 ish in on separate area and found a women stood on a pitch saving it for the outfit behind us. Total cheek and disrespect for not only the rules but also fellow members

So, we turn up at a busy cafe and I get in the queue to buy the coffee whilst my wife goes and bags a table. Same thing? Same problem? When touring abroad OH has wandered off to look at pitches whilst I check in. Seems normal practice to me.

Last site I went to the lady in the office walked with me and talked with me in pouring rain to show me to a dryish pitch, asked me how far we had come and what the traffic was like.,noticed we had no mover on the caravan so waved to some other residents to help us unhitch and shove the Eriba back into place.  Some sites and their staff are so much more civilised and customer friendly than others.

Pretty much our experience  at the previous site. The owner (who I had rung in advance because it was Holy week) said I have reserved pitch 19 because I know you like that one . As you say  some treat one as a valued customer and there are the others.

All are hopefully equal, some it appears are more equal than others! Good costumer service is all about treating everyone fairly! That’s the absolute aim of a membership group.

On Club sites, I think the wardens are aware of the "pitch reservers".

We do not use Club sites much these days, but when we did, on many sites, wardens were taking measures to ensure that arrivals were only allowed to select a pitch after booking in.  Particularly at earliest arrival time.

At Chatsworth you are required to remain in your car or MH until you get to reception and can book in, at LMP, Chirk, booking in is strictly  in order of arrival as is pitch selection.  No doubt many other sites are similar.

The new system where you can book a pitch surface may well alleviate the problem.

Then, like ‘over there’ references, it’s of little consequence or interest to this specific forum!

I’m baffled by the fact there is a queue at opening time….

I certainly don’t time my arrival to try and be first in a queue of like minded first in the gate at 13.00 queuers.

Are there points to be had being first in the gate at 13.00, and last out the gate at 11.00?
