Question about sites for kayaking

Hiya,

We have a double kayak which we would like to take with us, to use on caravan trips.

My question is can anyone recommend sites or CLs where there is kayaking nearby?

Launching from the site would be ideal, but that might be a bit much to hope for.

Kind regards,

Fiona

You give no clue as to your preferred area but from North Ledaig affiliated site you can launch from the site into the sea.

Thank you. That's the first one on the list.

We're based in the Derbyshire dales and tend to think of ourselves as being fairly central, and able to get most places on the mainland.

Having said that, it's 368 miles to the site at N Ledaig.

We will try Carsington water first (4 miles) with view to working our way up to Scotland in due course.

It’s a lot further than that from here 😄

Plenty of launch sites on the broads, off the top of my head, Hickling Broad by the pleasure boat inn.  Wroxham Broad, Oulton Broad, Upton dyke lane, Horsey Broad etc.,

Hi Fiona

In the Lake District the CAMC site at Coniston has access to the lake. The CCC site at Keswick is actually on the lake and is very close to the town. (Probably the best Club site in the Lake District).

Rudyard Lake in the Peak District is a great spot for canoeing. £10 charge for all day. There is a nice CL a few miles away (Fairboroughs farm)

It’s not a CAMC or CL but you might want to checkout Riverside Caravan Site, Tiddington Road, Stratford Upon Avon. You can launch a kayak from the site into the river Avon. Plenty of people using kayaks and paddle boarding. The site has facilities and a nice Clubhouse, but no hardstandings.
