No News Yet on the New Booking System

I noticed in the latest magazine there is an article on potential changes to the site booking system. I am sure we had a similar article a couple of months ago? Although there seems a commitment to being able to book a pitch type they are less than clear on other changes such as deposits. Apparently they are still considering it and looking closely at member feedback, including Club Together!!! I suppose we should be encouraged that they are taking note of what is said on this forum? I could be wrong but there seems a sort on consensus on CT that probably its coming to the point where deposits might be the way forward, some more reluctant than others maybe? Obviously many would want to see the small print perhaps before accepting it as a way forward. A decision may well have been made but it seems that it could be a few more months before full details are made public.

I know you have been on club sites BB and so then you'll know that a pitch booking as you call it includes a pitch fee and a per person fee. It is not as you tried to disguise it as one pitch booking, so the extra person fee could be thought of as paying for that car parking space? In my case it was paid for twice over.

Yes I think the car park should be charged for, probably more money enring in that than  converting the car park as you wish to do for mainly motorhomes? And fairer too in my view

who feel they must have two cars  ... person who has to have two cars

Bit emotive there BB, many MH feel they must have an extra cars? Why any different for caravans?

There are a number of reasons who people want to have a second car with them, not for you to judge perhaps? Many MHs do and on their pitch as well for free as well, maybe that should be charged if the club charged for car parking? In my case we stay longer while two more adults wanted to share our caravan for the weekend. But yes certainly charge.

some folk get confused? No need to be rude or personal BB, just spoils a good discussionundecided

That sounds very mean wanting to charge extra if a MH has a small car along.  After all, MH+car will take no more space than Caravan+car.

Is this some new rule that a second car cannot be on the pitch?  What happens when the site has no carpark?  Yes, there are a few that do not have a car park.

I'd actually mentioned £12-£15 which I thought seemed about right. Any more and there are other options.

also, the pitch (car parking space...) could be sold for a one off price...no separate 'pitch' or 'person' charge.

Are they actually staying overnight there, or is it just a parking area?

The club is also bound by the fire spacing rule/regulations.

Of course they are staying overnight. This one is Taunton M5 services. Why are these places not bound by fire spacing rules? It’s time the Club built some separate overnight parking areas for those who want them instead of sites. They are obviously legal.

I think it must be a new rule, I asked to have our second car on the pitch and certainly we've done that many time before on that site but was informed (very nicely and apologetically) that it was no longer possible to pay a fee and do this, was this on all sites I asked? and I was told yes on all sites. It was only a weekend so not that much bother so left it at that.

As for being mean, I don't think the club will take too much notice of me (yes imagine that) but if you start to charge for cars in the car park then why not?

Why of course? there are similar spaces for MH and caravans at other service stations and not all allow overnight parking.

Why is it time? If other providers like this do it why should the club? So I assume if the club did you would be happy to stay on a  club site and pay £18/23? I thought you preferred much cheaper sites and much more space and even posted photographs showing how much space?

You have mentioned club sites look like car parks? Well really the case here.

Ok so would those posters who are keen on this idea be happy with that? say £18? Not including EHU of course? Over to them I suppose for an answer?

Actually that price for those services that rather steep for what is really a car park in this case? Wouldn't a simple CL near be better value? Not to mention more space and individualitysmile

I’d be OK with £18, as long as it included at least use of water, waste and CDP. Not bothered about EHU for a night.

Motorways are all expensive, some more so than Gloucester. They do have the advantage you can pull into them at anytime of the night and don’t need booking. However, they wouldn’t be my first choice.

Overnight stops🤔 We have a nice little list of very cheap, very safe CLs that we use. Sometimes with EHU, sometimes not. Prices range from £8 to £12. We might arrive as late as 10pm, be off again by 9am. We aren’t fans of motorways, so have few problems finding somewhere nice, not too far off our chosen route. If we get away in December🤞, we intend hitting a few Britstops, so no pitching fee, but a nice takeaway meal.
