The Club have released more details of the new Booking System here

There are still finer details still to be arrived but the link (thanks Harry) sets out how the new system will work.

I have closed the previous thread on when we will get details of the new booking system and opened this one to allow comments specifically on the new system rather than discussing what they might be.

The simple thing is that if you booked 12 months ago (the date of which will be on your booking conformation)you would get to choose on arrival what pitches are available. Those who booked with the new system (once again booking date on conformation)and who have booked maybe a hardstanding will be assured of one. Not much to explain really and no pity needed. The site manager will know on any particular day if any particular pitch types are going spare, no drama at all.

JK , sorry but I think your reply has been very diplomatically worded. Your first sentence states choice of pitches available they could be only grass , as your second sentence states hardstanding assured . Clearly that is a two tier system being operated .

It’s simple really. Priority on surface type is going to be given to those who use the new booking system. Early bookers will get what’s left upon arrival, but then that happens now anyway. There just won’t be as many of a particular surface type to choose from, on the mixed surface Sites.

Just so

With as I. posted earlier and you have also highlighted

If those of us who have already booked ,, want to alter the booking or to guarantee a specific pitch type, ,the club are saying to cancel and start again with a fresh booking?

Which if while the booking system as at this time you can do that, ,those of us who know how busy the system is on very many sites, by the time you have cancelled a booking  some or all will have been snapped up by those looking for pitches

I know I would not want to chance that when the new system is introduced next April?

And with the wriggle room site staff had In the past now not  available? In the dash for cash it seems by this clubs directors the "it pays to talk" has now also been taken away

The risks of you losing the booking must be quite small. One way around this will be to allow members who booked under the current system to select a pitch type as soon as the facility to do so is made available rather than have to cancel and rebook. Perhaps such a facility should be retained so that a member can change it at any time before arrival, subject to availability of types of course.

I think you would be very unlucky having booked a pitch a year in advance which you then cancel and then find you can't book the pitch type you want for the same period. Firstly you will be able to see the availability for the pitch type you want before you amend. Perhaps the new system will give an indication of how many of a particular pitch type is available? What we don't know is how previously booked pitches are allocated viz a viz pitch type so it is possible your cancelled booking might just add to the pitch surface you want? As always the devil will be in the detail!

It will only be a problem at certain sites, where the pitch surfaces are mixed, somewhere like Looe for example might need some thought, where there are only 99 HS out of 217 pitches. But those who know the site might not worry anyway, the grass might be good. Exeter is an example we know, mix of both, but the grass pitches are fine, just a bit of a walk to facility block if needed.

As I posted this year it is at peak times been a problem   with it seems many looking to fill in bookings when sites are busy with odd days missing from their bookings

We had to curtail  some of our previous bookings and on several sites it was very difficult to get a full week, to make an alternative tour
