New booking system with deposits

I haven't seen any confirmation or otherwise regarding this but have just read it on Faceache with a date of 25th June being, allegedly, given by a member of site staff for implementation.

UP TO DATE INFORMATION ON BOOKINGS

We are normally able to book for next June from today.
However this isn’t possible as the website is moving over to deposits in the next couple of weeks.
So at this time we cannot book anything for next June until the system is live.

Indeed, they don’t seem to be doing much to honour the pledge they made.☹️

Perhaps they are embarrassed that they don't seem capable of introducing a new booking system six months after it was originally planned? No doubt when it does arrive it will do so to a big fanfare but whether it is ever explained why it has run into so many problems we will have to wait and see. Another question for the AGM perhaps?

Perhaps it’s all on hold. See how many folks can still afford Membership and outfit ownership by January. Lots of folks will have more important things to worry about, such as keeping warm, cooking food, paying bills🤔

It’s been said before that the current economic situation will achieve what the club wants in curbing speculative bookings and cancellations without the need for deposits.

However, the one thing this situation won’t achieve is getting money to flow through the tills by way of advance deposits which may be the raison d’etre of the scheme.

I think if they have put it on hold Ttda they should now open up bookings for next year. Not fair on those that like to plan well ahead.

The club haven't exactly covered themselves in glory with the way they've handled the whole affair but I'm not holding my breath for any sort of humble pie apology.

I suppose it depends on what the delay is. If its likely to be operational by, shall we say, the end of September, I could understand not adding more bookings to the system as inconvenient as that will be to some. On the plus side at least those wanting to book further ahead can be confident no one else is booking either so they are in exactly the same position as everyone.

Could it be that it is  the volume of bookings already on the system that is delaying the switch over? So by delaying it to sometime in September would mean all the summer bookings would be off the system and not adding new ones also helps make the system lighter? I could see the sense of that but unfortunately we are not being given any information which is frustrating.

Didn't JK say that there was a group of people doing the migration, I think it was quite a while back?

Perhaps the CAMC might consider doing what they promised…..

“We'll continue to share our progress”

Then there wouldn’t be any need for speculation or leaks of insider information.
