Lady Margaret's Park Chirk

Shortly Lady Margarets is closing until August/Sept 2022 for refurbishment. I understand the refurbishment is for new reception, new toilet/shower block and the installation of a few serviced pitches. Whilst I agree there is a need for these changes I would like to point out the shortsightedness in not adding tv aerial points to the bollards. It's a site that is open year round and in the winter most people would sit in the van and watch tv in the evening and the signal at Lady Margarets is average. I have raised this with the staff here but they think the view is that most people now watch more streaming sites than terrestrial tv. However, we have club wi-fi and at best this is poor on this site. As another footnote/feedback would it not be a better investment for the club income do the work in phases thus allowing parts of the site to remain open for those who have onboard facilities as was the case on many sites during lockdown.

If the club thinks members are streaming more than watching terrestrial tv then why aren't they investing in improving the wifi on this site.

. It would seem that all the electrical bollards were replaced during the refurbishment so there was an opportunity to incorporate a booster system

Not really.  Bollards were probably replaced using the existing underground cables.  To fit additional wiring for a TV connection would require lots of digging to instal additional cable/ducts.   Now, the refurb would have been an opportunity to do that, but this is The New Caravan Club.

A much simpler system is available.  A low power local transmitter on an locally unused channel rebroadcasting the signal from the main transmitter which would be received from an antenna located in a place with good signal.   There are place in the Highlands where this is done using two antennae back-to-back and no amplifier or licence required.

FB,  Rather than expect that the Club should do everything for you so that you can watch television, you could buy a satellite dish for yourself..

Thanks David for the update regarding Morn Hill.

It's such a shame that the Club doesn't listen to it's members.

Rowena, yet again I'm sorry that I'm posting negatively. I truly wish I was posting the following.... "Well done to the Club on the refurb of LMP, the Club listened to members & got the refurb spot on. Once again well done"

Rowena, I won't post again on this thread, sadly it's a waste of my time because the Club just doesn't listen.

Why not look for a different site, FB? I fear you’re beating your head against a brick wall.

Morn HIll is a site of two halves to use a football metaphor! The lower section has been completely repurposed so it would have been a possibility that Co-Ax  cabling would have been a fairly easy install. That does leave the top section which has only undergone a modest reconfiguration although looking at the ground works, which are still visible, electricity cabling has been replaced in some parts but not the entire top section. Perhaps this is the reasoning for not putting it in as they couldn't do the whole sites?

The bottom half of Morn Hill is owned by this "club" the top part is leased from the LA so more of our money would be allocated to the bottom area

Hi ET,

I don't think the club should do all they can for just me to watch TV. As I've previously said LMP is open all year & in winter 95% of us watch TV at night time in our Vans. So it would be the vast majority of members who would benefit. I did also say that I did not want the Club to change LMP to suit me but for the benefit of all.
